The rate of loss of heat is proportional to temperature difference, and a 7 degree difference between body temperature of 37C and ambient temperature of 30 will produce very slow heat loss.I am amazed that people from Northern hemisphere complain about 30 deg Celsius. It's quite normal for the summer. As long as it's under 40 deg it's quite bearable. In my country of origin (Romania) there is the temperate continental climate. From June to August the temperature is usually in the 30-40 deg range.
I love all three seasons, winter, spring and autumn, each for their own distinctive quality, colours, patterns of light, etc. But summer, especially high summer, is the one time of year I can't 'relate' to at all. I think of it as a dress rehearsal for Hell even though of course I don't believe Hell even exists! The negative qualities I would single out are the humidity, the harsh rather than gentle light, the warm rain, the heat that clings on into the late evenings like a bad smell, the warm, sticky nights. ... I say 'single out', but that's pretty much the whole season. Oh, I forgot to people with BO on public transport. And pollen. And sweating. And more sweating.
Here in South-East England, summer can keep raising its head like a B-Movie monster that refuses to die. ... We can have a few clear, crisp days and then suddenly a weather forecaster announces that 'summer's making a comeback' and it's hot and humid again with sticky sleepless nights.
I look forward to chilly nights and cold, clear mornings, the crunch of leaves beneath my feet and 'a touch of frost'. ... Not long to go now, hopefully.
It's about the jackets...
...the summer seemed to "break" and a long spell of temperatures in the middle 30s (Celsius) came to an end, the temperature falling to a blissful 16C.
+2 degrees Celsius the other morning on the Swedish westcoast! The heavy jacket season is here!!!
Cheers Joakim
