Grits!!!!!!!!!! An acquired taste.
One recipe that I brought back with me from the US, was Eggs Benedict, now you guys really did come up trumps with that.
I do believe the majority of 'Euro-Americans' today i.e. Americans with Eurorpean ancestry, are indeed of German descent. There was a massive immigration wave from Germany in the middle of the 19th century.....yet it still remains the most highly populated country of Europe.
I put ketchup on my scrambled eggs and I like to dip fried potatoes and onions in the yolk of my over easy eggs. I also eat pancakes or French toast last as dessert.
I have a Birth Certificate somewhere around here that states I was born in West Covina, California, in 1961. That makes me a native American. All 'Americans ' are, apart from the Native Americans.
I remember back in the 80s I think, the TV adds for FAUX diamonds. They apparently sold a lot of them! What is so American about it, is the clever marketing ploy. Make it sound foreign, exotic and tempting.

And if you want a really 100 Percent American meal, have Eggs Benedict for an appetizer, followed by General Tso's Chicken as the main course and Neapolitan ice cream for dessert.
Years ago my wife and I were taking an after dinner stroll through the "uptown" area of our fair city with some friends, and we came across a few young men converting one of the shops into whatever business it was going to be. One of them noticed us watching, and approached us to promote the new business. "It's going to be sort of a traditional 'old school' American diner...", then proceeded to tell us the menu would include burgers, sandwiches, pasta, pizza, tacos, burritos, and so on. When it finally opened, it was a candy store....And if you want a really 100 Percent American meal, have Eggs Benedict for an appetizer, followed by General Tso's Chicken as the main course and Neapolitan ice cream for dessert.
