Finally got my hands on my Simon James Cathcart (SJC) jeans today, and I have to say I'm mightily impressed. Given the amount of new denim makers kicking around, the market's a crowded one, but Simon's designs really stand out. The quality of fabric, 16oz Japanese denim, archive-matched thread, and construction is first-rate - stitching and finish is fantastic - and the fit is classic and flattering with a higher rise than you'll find on the likes of Gustin etc - perfect for matching with a half-belt or A-2. Overall, very happy with them, Simon's attention to detail in his designs has really paid-off and he deserves all the praise that's coming to him for his work.
Anyway, as we know worthlesswithoutpics, so here's a bunch of out-of-the-box details and a few fit pics.

Looks good and even like the crocs as well. :D kidding aside, I like the higher rise that to my way of thinking is more comfortable than crotch bitting low rise. Where are those jeans sold?

Looks good. I've had my fill of blue denim now, so hopefully Simon will add some other fabrics and styles.

As long as he doesn't do an LD over the waiting times and crazy pricing, he could be on to a winner if his quality is as good as you say. Never again will I wait more than 2 months for denim.

Very nice, Craig.

Fanch, SJC is about to bring all the awesome stuff to life everybody on here has been drooling about but couldn't find. Leather jacket styles not available anywhere else, 14 oz. cream flannels, wabash and dobby shirts, belted back suits in 30s and teens styles, tarsal strap shoes, deco sweaters, you name it. Check out the forum, SJC has some real nuggets in the pipeline.

There's a niche there that's ripe for the mining - we all drool over the Freewheelers' stuff but the prices are terrifying.

Yes, and my impression is that SJC is going to equal or better them in all departments: design, fabrics, fit, quality, price. To offer a period correct 3PC suit in Magee tweed, made to measure for substantially less than a RRL suit is quite a feat.

Sounds intriguing, Rudie. I can't wait to see these new offerings, as I fancy something different, especially if the quality is there. Is there any more information on what's coming and when? The forum's pretty sparse at the moment.

wdw, You can't see all content unless you are logged in.

I got a pair of the Big B denim. Will post fit pics tomorrow. Gave them a soak and they are still a little damp. But I can already tell this is nice heavy denim and good wide 30s style legs.

I don't know exactly, but I suppose that the summer collection is going live maybe in April so that it can be ready for summer? I know that the cream flannel has already been woven and that sample trousers are being made. Best to ask Simon, he is going at a breakneck speed. :D

What is coming pretty much depends on if there are enough buyers. If you have the fabric woven you need to buy a certain minimum of cloth. Also the manufacturers have their minimums. So maybe for a dobby shirt he needs 100 buyers and for a suit 20 or so. If enough people commit in advance the item is going to be made. At present you can chime in and suggest what you like. Where else outside bespoke can you actually express you sartorial needs in a niche like 10s to 40s clothing, have input from some of the best vintage experts of the world, and get the stuff done in sizes that actually fit? I mean, Freewheelers have awesome stuff, but the sizes are tiny, just like real vintage.

If you are logged in you will see that there are many projects in the pipeline.

I didn't do any cooking this weekend, so I didn't get to wear my new SJC apron. I will post pics as soon as I do.

Yes, I know it's a workwear apron and supposed to be worn doing something manly like working a lathe, but the only oil this thing's going to see will be cooking oil.

SJC has some really interesting stuff going on. The whole concept is brilliant, and some of the stuff is very interesting. I hope it continues to grow..

Yeah, I could never stretch to that sort of money - even if I had it, tbh, I don't think I could justify the sort of spend some of those thnigs are on a single item.

I went for those too. I can get in them and everythin,g though in a month or two they'll fit even better. I also ordered the legs a bit on the long side, with the intention of having them properly cuffed (I'll get around to having it done professionally, rather than rolling them up like jeans, I think). Great trews.

Ha! Wish I'd thought of that!

Got to say, the denim was comfortable out of the box for me - something that hasn't happened with the majority of my Gustin's. I'm still wrestling with my 18oz black x coals, a good few months on from getting them.
