Has anyone here heard of the Silver Rocket? I have a kids school notebook that has the Zephyr on it from the 1930s and found another one with a rocket and words Silver Rocket. Was this some sort of movie about the space age or what? Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks. Sandy

Just a shot in the dark, but I'd say they are most likely
locomotives of the era. That's my guess! [huh]

I'm willing to bet they were model train sets, as this
appears in a Google search: K5363W "The Silver Rocket" Twin Motored A-A Diesel 8 Car Freight Set

Sorry, I didn't make myself clear enough. The one notebook has the train Zephyr on it. The notebook with Silver Rocket has a space ship on it. I will try to put photos.

Don't know much about period sci-fi, but because of CB&Q's (the "Route of the Zephyrs") gimmick of all-stainless-steel trains, most of their streamlined equipment including the shovelnose and E5 diesels GM built for them, were named "Silver ___". There was also a "Zephyr-Rocket" jointly operated between the Burlington and Rock Island (latter being "Route of the Rockets").... CRI&P also ran a train named the Silver Rocket, but I don't recall routing. (Way west of my expertise as a New York Central specialist, you could say the edge of the world for them was between Zearing, IL and St. Louis.)

The "West Wind", specifically IIRC--which was in leeping with another CB&Q motto, "Everywhere West". (Well, Upper Mid- and Northwest anyway--aside from some subsidiary operations into Colorado and Texas, the Q's primary role was as a feeder into the Great Northern and Northern Pacific systems.)
