While making a tuna sandwich and thinking about the "men who can cook" thread, brought to thinking of a nice little subject.

Around our workplaces and our homes, those who cook, bake, fry and grill all have a favorite dish they like to "dish" up, aka, their Signature Dish. It's usually a special dish you are known for making more than any of your other dishes, and are always a favorte to those who taste it. In my house, I must admit I can't cook or bake anything. But when it comes to frying, I try to think of as much as possible to fry on a frying pan. It's become known around my house for me to make a Tuna Melt with Soughdough bread. This dish came about after eating the version at Johnny Rockets so many times, I thought I'd try it at home. It worked perfectly. I add a side to it sometimes, like fried rice.

Another dish I like creating, also without any knowledge on how to make it, is a meatless breakfast burrito, consisting of "2" tortillas (not flying), which I put slices of american cheese in between, shredded cheese on top, and then microwave to melt and stick together. Then I fry hand cut onions, tomatoes, and bell peppers. After that I make scrambled eggs, and sometimes add shredded cheese into the eggs. The last step is putting it all into a big round bowl and mixing it all together, then spooning out the eggs and condiments, onto the cheese filled tortillas, and viola! A Meatless Breakfast Burrito!

These have sort of become Signature Dishes of mine, but what's yours?

Well, I love pasta...pretty much any way of making pasta is a good way... but my single favorite for both easy and amazingly tasty is probably fetticini alfredo, with lots of spinach. Mushrooms are optional; not everyone at home loves them like I do.

I've cut back from TWO sticks of butter. But I do have the only dog on the block who responds with drooling glee and total recognition to the olive oil can. lol

I can do a fantastic marinated, baked brie, I also experiment with roasting chicken, my favorite is soaked in white wine and various herbs before roasting for a couple hours.

Okay now I'm hungrylol

My main dish would have to be a Pepperoni and Bell Pepper Tomato Sauce over Penne.

When baking its my White Chocolate Raspberry Cake with White Chocolate Cream Cheese Frosting.

My new breakfast favorite is Scotch Eggs.

My "Signature Dish" (at least, I've been making/eating it every night for the past week and a half) is a baby greens salad with candied & toasted walnuts (I make them myself), goat cheese and raspberry vinagrette. It's the closest I've come to cooking a successful meal yet!

My fianc?©e is always asking me to cook my Sole Meuni?®re for her, but if I were to say one dish myself, it would be my Lamb Curry which is (if I may say so myself) damn good. Friends ask for it when they come round and I have been asked for the recipe but that's a closely guarded secret. If it's a special do I'll make home-made chapattis or naan to go with it, a big bowl of raita and there'll be a few chutneys as well.

I´m worlds-famous for beeing able to make a Choclatekiss-cake in 3 minutes. I don´t know if you have those overseas but basically Choclatekisses are thin waffles with a topping of sweet cream and choclate

Turned into a cake it looks like this:

Once I was in a course where we were supposed to learn how to do a presentation. We were told we can tell about anything we want for 3 minutes... Well I explained how to do the cake and made it right away in exactly 3 minutes. I don´t need to mention it became a big hit and had the most positive response (I guess that´s cause everyone got a big fat piece of it afterwards :D ) So I´d say that´s my signature dish.

A simple pasta, spaghetti sauce and cheese for me, but a great homemade tiramisu afterwards and a cocktail modified from a late 1800s recipie containing grenadine, cherry liqueor and white wine (I call it the Bohemian).

I haven't made it in a fair amount of time, but it used to be a bacon/ham & lettuce pie, from a recipe I got in Saveur several years ago. It was basically just that, with a cream sauce and whipped potatoes on top. Sort of like shepards pie, but not. :p I was always told it came out great, and it was very good food, even though I was never confident of my cooking skills. :p

Over med eggs

I am very particular about my over med eggs. SO much so that I will not order them out cause I know I will prolly send them back for being either too hard on the outside or too mushy inside.

So I try to prefect them (in taste, not looks) and thus far, Im doing alright.

I guess the thing that people always want me to make is Chicken under a Brick. That is my most requested dish. I usually make it with rustic (lumpy with some skins) garlic mashed potatoes and honey glazed carrots or mashed sweet potatoes ane lemony green beans.

Baking, my Kentucky Butter Cake and Brownies get requested most. Though my Chocolate Mocha Mocha Cake gets its fair share of requests.

I'm a gal of simple tastes, so it's macaroni and cheese for me -- made with real butter, real milk, real cheddar, salt, mustard, pepper, and a dash of cayenne. A big ol' batch of it is my contribution to any family event.

I do about 99% of the cooking at home, so this is hard for me to pick just one signature dish.

I think that it would be spaghetti with my fresh marinara with homemade garlic meatballs. Yum! And there are never leftovers.
