Shudde Bros. Hatters in Houston

What size is it?

I'm not sure. Probably fairly large for a woman because she has lots of hair. It's a cowboy hat, not a fedora. It's in a box somewhere, I'll have to dig it out.

Well son of a gun...I take it back. I checked and my wife's hat is a Resistol (7 3/8, btw). Maybe it was my sister I'm thinking of. At any rate, I still think they made hats of different colors, but don't have one to show you.

I bought a Stetson 100 from the grandchild of a oil driller last week (I’m in Houston O&G heaven) and he called me to tell me he had another hat I may be interested in. It was a Shudde Bros. Hat made in the Stetson Open Road style. I had to have it! I’ll add that the 100 was purchased from Shudde Bros. As well. There’s no quality designation but it’s very close to my 100. Very happy with this find! Pictured is the SB hat with my 100.

Shudde Bros Beaver De Luxe that I found on Shopgoodwilldotcom. Bought it size unknown. Turns out to be a very nice fit!
A lot of dust came out of it when I took it outside and brushed it vigorously so I'm wondering if it had some coloring powder on it.

The sweatband seems to be in great shape. Liner has just a bit of foxing. Open crown is 5 1/2", 5 at high point of crease. 3 1/8" brim. No stickers under the sweat or liner, and the sweatband bow and size tag are missing. Thin, dense felt weighs in at a somewhat light 162g.
The stitched in liner and old school fabric reed tape make me think later 1950's. Any thoughts or opinions on age are welcome.

Not bad considering I was just trying to bid away some profit fron "Dad"....
The size, the quality, everything about it I would call an unqualified win!
I would imagine that when it was made it was their top of the line offering, or close to it anyway.
