Those are fantastic LD! I LOVE coat patterns! After you've had them for a bit will you be making them available for the pattern swap? I especially love the ones above but they're all wonderful.

Try the Simplicity Theresa La Quey patterns!

I finally got sick of my authentic '20s dresses falling apart on me, so took the leap and bought a couple of repro vintage patterns. I'm not much of a seamstress, so I looked for the easiest ones I could find from a fantastic Web site -- The Vintage Pattern Lending Library.

My question to you seamstresses is, where do you get vintage patterns, or at least decent modern reproduction patterns? The "historical" patterns of Simplicity and Butterick are full of nothing but Scarlett O'Hara and damsels in distress!

Shameless plug for an old friend! TLQ is a fabulous seamstress (and does custom work, worth the price!) and she is commissioned by Simplicity to do retro patterns for them. There is a great 30s bias evening gown with fur trimmed wrap, a wonderful sweetheart-neckline swing dress, and more (I think there's an apron pattern?), anyway, they are EASY to sew from , and really authentic, once you de-Mormonize the necklines and back! They make her offer it in a covered-up version, apparently that's a big seller for them.

Ouch, Lady Day, you're hurting me!

Whilst antiquing today, I came across a not so vintage armoire, and for some reason decided to look in its drawers. Low and behold I found a stash of 50+ 30s Butterick patterns! I almost freaked. I asked how much they were, and the lady said $3 each! Squeeeee!!!

I looked through the ones that didnt seemed open and had their directions and got about 13. YES ME!!!

Here they is.

I dont know much about this eara of patterns, or why they were in green envelopes. I was also suprised at how many of these patterns had the frock AND the coat in the same package. Talk about a bargin!

Also, this maker I know nothing of. These were the only ones that were printed, and in english and french. They also have both curencies printed on the package.

Are you going to have to grade them up to a human size? 32 bust seems awfully small, are you really? If so, I am jealous...
I would certainly be interested in pitching in if you had to pay for upgrade if I could get a crack at one... those coat patterns are fabulous!

Im gonna redraft the entire pattern when I make these. I may start with the 2 peice of the 6390(A).

howdy dolls, more of me begging you for some advice/help! lol

I really, REALLY want to make a "garrison cap" inspired hat for a wedding I'm attending in a few weeks. My "date" is going in his Navy dress blues and I want to milk the military theme a bit I LOVE this one, by etsy seller BoringSidney:

And it's not badly priced AT ALL, but I don't know if I would get it in time and I'm kind of leaning towards a navy blue dominance in my outfit rather than black.

Has anyone ever seen basic patterns for garrison cap style hats? Even if it's a costume pattern for a military uniform or something, I can tweak it.

Just FYI, Erin at Dressaday posted a link to an online pattern from the VA website and for the FLers who live in London, I so envy you the exhibit at the VA Museum.

It's only available in 10, 12, and 14. UK sized obviously. I think the UK 14 is a 38 bust and 30 waist. Also, it prints up on 8.5x11 paper and used 20 pages and its a PDF. Check it out.

I lived in London for three years (just got back a year ago this past May) and I hit up EVERY SINGLE V&A exhibit. The Vivienne Westwood one was FANTASTIC. Their permanent collection of clothing is Too Die For - a Must See for an FLer taking a trip across the pond.

Seconded! I "budget" at least half a day for the V&A when I'm in London. Their permanent collection never gets old and it's such a wonderful quirky museum.

Has anyone tried this pattern from evadress.com? Can you tell me what the finished waist and hip measurements are? I'm considering buying it, but have never graded pants. If it's only a little small, it would be ok, but I don't know if I'd buy it if it was way too small for me.

What is your ebay limit for patterns? I'm begining to regret entering a high "max bid", but it's a dress I've been looking for, for a while and a nice,larger size that would fit with only the standard FBA that I do on all patterns, no grading needed. If it goes to my max bid, it will be the most I've ever paid for a pattern. What is the highest you've ever spent on a pattern? If my husband found out how much I bid on this, he'd think I was insane.

I have that pattern Kamikat, but I havet tried it. Its an Eva Dress pattern. They have different sizes, the one I have I believe is 41" hip.

What is the highest you've ever spent on a pattern?

I spent $25 to get the much sought after 1940s McCall western shirt pattern in my size. I had been pursuing it for years and kept getting beat out, so I went for it. To be honest, that's close to what a new Vogue costs when not on sale....

The highest prices I have seen patterns go for are way beyond me. I believe I saw a 1950s wedding dress pattern go for $120. I know I saw a great mermaid skirted wiggle dress go for $78. There was another I saw go for $56, but I can't remember exactly what it was. I'm thinking it was a 1930s evening gown.
