Not sure if this belongs here, but one of my local, long-time friends is making some major life changes. She's having an estate sale this week, and selling almost everything in her AMAZING vintage MCM collection. The link to the Estate Sale listing is this:

A few of my favorite pieces she's selling:

(She's quit her job as an attorney, completely downsized, bought an RV, and is hitting the road with her dog and cat - off to see the USA!)

Got the old 50s cast iron bathtub out this afternoon. Like Archimedes said, "Give me a place to stand, and a lever long enough, and I will move the world." I did not want to take out a wall, so I inched it out with crow bars and finally my long pry-bar, lever. Since I was alone, (funny how every one is suddenly busy,) I had to push and drag it out side. Fortunately, it was a short trip to the edge of the deck, then a firm push down the stairs, very satisfying! I need to get my dolly and take it to the ally, some scrap metal guy will take it.

I spent the last week on Vacation from work. I did a lot of work in the yard, and outside, and on the new truck, but managed to do some work in the house, too.

For quite some time, an old Console TV with a blanket over it has served as a table in the dining room. Well, I had enough of looking at that.
I replaced it with a beautiful old Zenith console a friend gave to me. I think it looks much better. Hauling it from the storage locker, to the truck, into the house by myself was quite a task, though lol

Then I lugged that Console TV upstairs (again, by myself lol) and did some digging through the attic and spare bedroom. Ended up with my own little "man cave" upstairs.

Tom, what I really like about the downstairs console is that it is an attractive piece of furniture by itself. I like when they used to do that for TVs, radios, stereos, etc. as it is not necessary for them to be eyesores. Great looking phone and light on top of it as well. It's really good to see how nice everything is coming along.

Thank you! Works, too! The sofa was my Great-Grandfather's. My Great-Grandparents lived in the lower level of my Grandparents' house, while my dad was growing up. He tells stories of playing on it as a kid. It came from the old house on 3rd st. before that. It was in the basement of their house when I was growing up, as well. Been in the family since it was new.

I like the new console Tom. That's a great looking sofa in the upstairs, too.

I'm with you, there. That's why I won't swap to modern TV's, either. I just don't like how cold and sterile they look.
That lamp is my favorite one I own. That one, and the one next to the upstairs sofa were both in my Grandparents' living room when I was growing up. I always called it "grandpa's lamp" because he would always lay on the couch and the lamp would be right at his head so he could read, etc. The last time I saw him, he was in a hospital bed, where the couch always sat, with the lamp right where it always was, in his arm's reach. He passed away in that spot, his favorite spot.

When he passed away, Grandma gave me so much of the furniture out of that house. Every lamp, and all the GWTW light fixtures were given to me. My Uncle and Aunt have moved in with Grandma and are remodeling the house (which is unnecessary.) At least a lot of what made that house what it was will stay with me forever.

Sorry to get sappy, but I love my Grandparents very much.

Here's a picture of the lamp in the spot it was all my life (Christmas circa 2000) That ship's wheel clock is in my house, too. My grandparents first clock (of many) they got the year they got married, 1951.
