Unfortunately we don't have any older photos. I took a bunch when we moved in as we had to undo a lot of 1970s remodeling - 12 inch cardboard tile ceilings, bad wall colors painted over the original wallpaper, even worse kitchen cabinets, an island coming off the chimney. ??? We tore down part of a wall in the kitchen and found that a doorway had been there originally. When tearing into the adjacent ceiling, we found the original stairway - very steep! Renovating is always an adventure because you're undoing someone else's "handywork" which is some cases, was not so handy.

Finally have some new shots of my finished study/library:

This shot is before I had more stuff on the shelves, but it's a nice view anyway:

It's been a long-time coming, but well worth the wait!

Kind regards,

These were some of the rooms in my past home. Can you find the Carlo Paintings and Moss Lamps? :D

We now live in a pink (original paint) 1951 home where all our 1950's vintage fit together just right - those pics to follow.

Hey wait a minute... are you rockabilly4 on ebay?

Can't remember if I've posted before. Mine is very much a work in progress!

House was built in 1756 but that's not really my taste! Here are a couple, just begun the mammoth task of stripping and redecorating my bedroom...about 8 layers of paper so far!!

Black Panthers...

Just picked this one up...

Black Panthers were quite the thing in mid-century decor, weren't they? My parents had me pick up for them a small black panther sculpture from eBay. In my quest, I discovered many variations, including a TV lamp! It seems my parents both remembered them from homes of relatives.

Somewhere in the vast recesses of my Photobucket account, there is even one that's had pinstriping added, ala Von Dutch.

The bathroom...

Here are some snaps of the bathroom in our new place here... it's 40s I'd say.

The light fixtures at the mirror are replacements... but, look ok for now till we find the correct ones... the landlord is excited to put whatever we want in there that's period. The tub, toilet, sink are original and so is the tile. At one time someone put those 80s fixtures in the tub and had to put non correct matching green tile in around them... and the shower is the same way... but, our landlord has said he can get the tile and will replace it correctly and we're keeping our eyes out for correct faucets and knobs.

More photos are to come. It's a charming little place... the car even has a garage now and I'll take some photos of that too for fun.

Stay tuned.

Pinkish bathroom

Nice bathroom. Even tho the tiles are blue, I think this definitely qualifies for showing off on Save the Pank Bathrooms: http://savethepinkbathrooms.com/ .
And that console sink is definitely a nice period touch. That's exactly what I want to put in mine, to replace the cheesy acrylic vanity sink the previous owners installed.

Neat site! The really neat thing about our new landlord is that he's redone the tile in some of the other places he owns exactly as they were before... he believes in preservation and finds that the older interiors are more interesting than anything one can buy today at most home improvement stores.

Photos of the kitchen will soon fallow after I do a little work in there.:D

PS: The wall heater in the bathroom works too... very well!

Enjoy!

Kind regards,

I love old pianos! They're so unique and sound so beautiful. I wish I had an antique piano. One day, maybe I'll buy one. I wonder what brand that piano is. Looks like it still has the original ivory on the keys.
