Thank you! :)

I have the exact same kitchen cart. :p It was my grandmother's:D

I know :p

Wow, great job on the kitchen and great color choices Rue!! Agree with everyone, I love the nook. Gas stoves are not too bad to work on and there are a few good sources online for vintage stove parts and getting the oven thermostats rebuilt. I ended up finding a 1952 O'keefe & Merritt for my vintage kitchen and it is such a fun and trouble free stove to use!

Thank you! :) Are the pictures of your kitchen on here? I can't remember.

No, new to FL still... but here's a tour :)

This was originally a 12' x 12' kitchen with 5 doorways and a hug window, not sure where you did any prep work? There was a pantry room and a mudroom behind and an open porch entrance. When it became an apartment they made the porch and half the mudroom into a huge bathroom and gutted the pantry. I decided to open it up and make a 1940's/50's era kitchen. The porcelain table was a great find with 6 original chairs! There are pullouts on each end to make it longer. The base and top cabinet I made and the butcher block was an old work bench from work that was being thrown out.

The step-back cupboard is a salvage piece that came from a farmhouse in NJ that was torn down. It's filled with modern Fiestaware I use for everyday use. I have a nice set of Fire King Jadite that I keep in the dining room cabinet. The door leading to the butler stair case was walled off when I bought the place and the bottom stairs ripped out. That's where they had the fridge. The beadboard for the wainscoting is also salvage I found on CL for a fraction of the price of the big box store garbage.

Originally I had a 2 door GE Monitor Top I was going to restore, but lack of time and functionality I decided to get a modern replica fridge. It's a Northstar which will give you sticker shock! But I managed to get a scratch and dent one for a 3rd off price. It has one small scratch which makes it feel more authentic since a 50 year old fridge would have its fair share of marks ;) The Western Electric phone is functional and everybody loves to make calls from it the first time they see it!

The small built in shelves was made from material salvaged in the demo. The sink is a 1920's piece and the base I made for it. The back wall had old termite damage and was basically knocked out and rebuilt. I added the windows and moved the back entrance to make room for the sink which original was where the step-back cupboard is now.

Around the corner is where the apartment bathroom was... started from left side of the cabinet and wen all the way back to the enf of the current powder room. The cabinet on the left was in my grandmother's basement. I cleaned it up and built into the wall. The open closet is my solution for modern conveniences... dishwasher, microwave, and toaster oven. The powder room is vintage too. This is originally where the back porch was.

And here's the beast!! 1952 O'Keefe & Merritt.... I'll never go modern stove again

Finally, the powder room... I always wanted a pull chain toilet and now I got one! The tank is oak with copper lining inside. There's a claw foot tub to the right you can't see. I always get a kick out of people who have never seen one before get so excited in asking if they can pull the chain!!

Holy smokes hbogie! The kitchen and powder room are fantastic! LOVE the stove and that table and chair set is a wonderful find. I'm pea green with envy! I think we have the same make of flooring, unless it's original. Thank you for sharing it :D

Thanks! :) I'm definitely happy how it turned out. If I remember right, the floor is Armstrong linoleum tiles I ordered from Lowes. I still need to paint the chairs and the swinging door to the dining room that I put back as original.

That's one of the coolest vinatge homes I've seen in this thread. Every detail spot on. And I agree about the floor tiles. SOOO many people fall back on the black and white tiles, it's become a cliche. A "real" vintage kitchen would have one of the many amazing linoleum patterns that were available then, but are not available now. I think that green and yellow is inspired.

Those old high-tank toilets are pretty neat. Is the commode itself an antique/vintage one, or is it modern?

Some of those antique toilets from the Victorian/Edwardian era had really interesting names. The Vortex, The Ajax. I think there was another one called the Typhoon or something.

The tank, bowl, and flush handle are original. Can't remember the make but it's not one you see often. The pipe, oak seat, and the works inside the tank are new.

You have to be careful when you pull the handle on the Tidal Wave. :p

I can see where the names came from... It definitely has an intimidating gravity assist power flush!! This thing laughs at the new low flow toilets out today, uses water like an old Cadillac uses gas :D

Which is worse, to yank your chain or pull your finger? Sorry, couldn't resist!

I would say pulling my chain if it's from what the saying originally came from in the coal mine days! ;)
