Good adventure story Renault.
]I went up to the old home place this morning. I thought a few of you might appreciate this. My granddad's old (1947 I think) Ford 8N tractor. My uncle restored it a few years back.

Thanks Harv & Big Man. I guess technically my uncle just repainted it, as there has never been a point at which it wasn't in running condition. I remember as a kid going out in the field and following along behind my granddad as he plowed, picking up arrowheads that were turned up by the plow. My cousins and I filled up a couple of big glass jars full over the years. As a teenager, grandad would would hitch up a wagon and we would follow along in the hot sun picking ****ing watermelons and putting in it.

Great tractor! My Dad bought a Ford for my Grandmother, with his WWII mustering out pay. It was still on the farm when it was sold in the late 70s. I did want it, but wasn't worth hauling from Iowa to Colorado back then!

They're not so rare these days that hauling one from Iowa to Colorado probably still wouldn't be worth it.

Thanks. Me too. I spent a lot of hours learning to drive that tractor before my old man would turn me loose in a car.

I agree on the Suburban with the gas engine, that one looks in really good condition.
As for the diesel one...we had one of those for awhile when I was a kid.
Terribly slow, not a lot of pumps in town sold diesel (unless it was a truck stop clear across town), and it always sounded like you needed to tighten something down on the engine.
Off road it was virtually unstoppable, but it didn't go off road that often.
The gas version though...run it on non ethanol and it should be fine.

Still on the lookout for a good Suburban. Found this 1990 2500 4x4 locally for $800.00. Runs and drives, with current inspection. Make no mistake, its roached. Rusty as thunder, but it drives great. Its a stepping stone.

This was parked in front of my house today. It belongs to a former neighbor who wants it fixed up for his son, and is being worked on by my other neighbor. The owner can't make up his mind what he wants, the neighbor working on it wants to go crazy and lengthen the wheel base, lower it and a whole host of other mods. If it was mine, I would replace the rusty exhaust, get it running reliably, stabilize the rust and body, and drive the heck out of it! It does look like a blast!

Ford and their darn starter solenoids. They are garbage. That was the problem. At least I had one at home, and it's mounted to the fender apron so it is a five minute fix. But being stranded with no one reachable by phone (of course), there was a lot of cursing, walking, cursing, fixing, walking, etc. Two hours later..... :doh:

hey peeps, here are a few of the cars i own and some that ive sold. i also have a 67 nova non post i should get running in the next few months. my daily is now is a honda accord coupe, gas efficient that is, that way i can afford boots =)

57 bel air pro street, sold last year, to buy a new challenger srt8, by far the worst decision ever, lol.
