Welcome to the Lounge! I love this tie and I’m looking forward to seeing more of your collection.

Thank you Bob! I'll make sure to show you guys more ties and even bow ties.

Welcome to the Lounge, Necktie Guy! I love this bold look tie of yours, and hope to see more from your collection. I myself am also a sucker for snagging vintage ties--They're normally cheap and the patterns and colors are damn near limitless. If you look at previous replies on this thread, you'll see a lot of mine are bold look era, 30's-50's stuff. Hope you'll show us more of yours.

Will do Mondo! My collection includes both vintage and modern. I also have bow ties, square end ties, and knit ties... so I'll have plenty to show you guys!

Here's another. This time a colorful woolly! Bought this one on Etsy:

"Huntleigh Heathers, Loomed in Scotland, Styled by Currie" (1930's-40's) 47"x4"

"FINE BOTANY WOOL" (So this is made from merino wool?)

Yeah, this plaid is very unusual, which is why it's one of my favorites. I wonder what's the story for this tie. What sort of suit and shirt would go with this? I think of the 30's and early 40's as having drab colors and subtle and elegant ties, but this plaid is something different.

And I'm guessing the tweed jacket should be Double-Breasted?
Funny thing, I usually prefer single breasted, three button configuration when it comes to tweed jackets. Either config. could work, no one is gonna guffaw at what style the jacket is. In a world where a tiny margin of people dress with these accouterments daily, you have a lot of leeway to do whatever you want ;)

Hello everyone! I just joined, and it's a pleasure meeting you all. Ties are my favorite thing to talk about, and I thought this thread is perfect for me! Let me start off with one of my ties!
Purple "Coplan" jacquard tie with falling diamonds/squares. 54"x 4"
PG0qZ1F.jpg

Lining: "The Coplan Tie, Nationally Known, America's Finest" (There used to be a metal staple at the back of the front blade. Its location and the fact it wasn't one of those thin and flimsy ones we all have made me think it was there since the 40's/50's. I removed it for the sake of this photo.)

Store Label: Three Brand, N.N.N., B. Ney & Sons, Harrisonburg, VA.

What do you guys think?
Welcome to the lounge. And a super looking tie to start. Looking forward to more contributions.

Half-price day at the Salvation Army thrift. Nothing of any great excitement, but they were cheap and I may have been day-drinking.

No brand label. Silk? 54” x 2-1/2”.

Some nice ones in there Bob. I have the feeling I have something very similar to the Broadway model.

Since bow ties are seldom seen here, I'm going to change that starting with this:
Ted Baker Bow Tie "100% Imported Silk, Hand Tailored in USA." Adjustable to neck sizes 13 to 18, 2-7/16" at widest points of bow tie.
Currently my newest bow tie; paid a grand total of $11.24 at Dillard's! (Pretty good deal, right?)

How it looks with flash ON.

Notice that it's detachable.

I recall going to Dillard's during one of their huge sales. Did they have any diamond tipped bowties (AKA the best bowtie)?

Unfortunately, I didn't find any that day. In fact, I've never seen a diamond point bow tie, brand new, at a department store. However, I do have some vintage diamond points. I'll post them in the next few days.

And you're right, diamond point bow ties are the best!

I'd love to see them. I'm actually in the market for some at the moment, but can rarely find them!

Thrifted this bow tie for $1.99 at a Goodwill five days ago.

Batwing (AKA Square End) Red Paisley Patterned Bow Tie, unknown maker, unknown fabric content... probably rayon or acetate or a blend of both. Adjustable to neck sizes 13-3/4 to 18. 2-3/8" at widest point.
I would date this around late 1960's, due to the weave, pattern, shape, width, and the feel of the fabric.

Very interesting the way the color changes under different lighting.
