I wore this tie to church today. It was one of my Dad's old ties from the early to mid 1960s. I have a number of his old ties like this that I can easily date. My Dad was a school Principal, so all I have to do is look through the old school annuals and find the tie he was wearing at any given year. I found a picture of him wearing this one in the 1964 school annual.

SurfGent -- the way my work week is going I may need to borrow your FU tie.

Found this at the local DAV thrift and it was half-price (53-cents).

Nice one RS

Bob that Arrow is a sweet find. Congrats!

Big Man...that tie is cool enough as it is, but being that it belonged to your dad takes it to the next level of awesomeness. Wear it with pride!

So fellas check this out. Saw this weekend at one of my local thrift haunts. Not a vintage but really interesting. It has a optical illusion kinda 3D print. The the feel of the fabric is super light. Almost 1 or 2 layers of silk thin. From research of the label there a designer out of Italy but not high end. Like a Jc Penny or Mervyn's or Sears level of market. But I couldn't really find any for sale hear in the US other than some online retailers. And thouse looked nothing like this one. Anyway enjoy :)

I was at my favorite thrift the other day and ran onto some knit ties. My collection has been decidedly lacking in knit ties to I jumped on them at a buck apiece.

The one on the far left is completely unlabeled, very narrow and very short. It may be a child's tie or maybe not even a tie at all. The next two, not really vintage, are Lands' End 50% mohair 50% Wool and the two on the right are Lands' End 100% Silk made in Italy. The wool are 3" wide and the silk 3 1/2" wide.
A closer look at each set.

And then there was this woven one which I think is truly vintage, though I'm not at all sure what vintage. And I could of course be wrong altogether.

It's 2 3/4" wide and 53 1/2" long. Seems to have only one thin interfacing inside of it and the bulk on the front is from the folding of the material itself. Personally I would love to find one that had that inside on the outside. Ha ha.
So one more hole in the collection has started to fill. And I even took one out for a spin already.

Click on any of the pictures and that should take you to the high resolution originals.
