How ya fellas. Picked it this weekend. Thouse St Vincent de Paul finds are like mana from heaven, 25¢ needs to go to the cleaners was waded up in a bag, wrinkles galore but I got things ironed out ;-)

That is a very unusual looking tie. To sort of stray off topic, it seems to me that Penney's made some really quality goods back in the day. Maybe even to this day. I have a number of their sport coats that are nicely canvassed and constructed, even at quite a late date for that construction.

While I understand what you are saying, I think, though I doubt it on the people front, being old enough to have been there the first time around, I think that for the price point Penney's offered some really outstanding product. Certainly into the 80's at least, if not later, and for sure one of my favorite suits was from them in the 60's. And by that I mean that I bought it in the 60's. And on the tie front I see a lot of Towncraft ties that are very nice.

I got some great ties on Saturday. Just getting around to posting these. I'll post more close ups of the 40s ones when I get home . These all came from an estate sale of a Whittier home that was built by Richard Nixon's grandparents and at some point he lived there. I think the house stayed in the family . The ties were a buck each so of course I bought 26. I don't know the date on all of them so some help would be appreciated but I think some are 30s. I know most are 40s.

Nice haul Jamesmac1801!! And for a buck each, no less. That's awesome. That handpainted chess piece one is a standout, and I could easily see it or a couple of the others selling for as much as that whole lot. Congratulations!

I saw the label on one said Bullock's. Probably was from the famous Bullock's store on Wilshire Blvd. I was just watching a documentary about the history of old los Angeles and it showcased that building and street. Great find. Good eye my friend
