Show us your TIES

[Quetzal]

This was the first item that I found at St. Vincent De Paul's. It was peeking through the rack, behind fifty polyester ties, and I thought, "Wow, what a nice tie. I wonder..." and it definitely was:





The first of the "Goodwill Thirty". There were many ties on the racks that day, and when I first saw it, I asked myself what kind of person wore such a tiny tie? Then, after checking out the label and construction, "Ah, the man who bought it in 1951". My other reaction was "Evil Lord Business" from The LEGO Movie; to those of you who have seen it, it actually looks like the tiny cape that the character wears. My friend has a red Wembley made twenty years later, with the notorious "WEMBLON by Wembley" label, that he bought at a flea market.

^^Nice, Quetzal. The Local St. Vincent De Paul here in L.A. is in the Lincoln Heights district (don't know of any others), and it usually has quite a few ties, but very few vintage...

Very nice ties, Quetzal! In fact, I like all of them, good choices.

The seller believes that they are 1950s or '60s. I think that this is a great lot, and there are some lighter colored ones, which I am presently lacking in, as well. All of them look good to me, but I think the middle one is my favorite.

The lucky charm Van Heusen is pretty sweet, and a horse head one is always a winner. Nice haul all around.

All four of those are very good ties. The Broadway Cravat is my favorite of that collection.

When I first began to buy my own ties, I wanted to buy "Bold Look" ties (I really wanted a tie like the one Ernest Borgnine wore in "Marty"), and I purchased a few lots online a while back. Here is one of the ties:



A "Boy Scouts of America" tie from St. Vin's:





A Goodwill Thirty. Most, if not all, of these were and are in a Like-New condition:



I thought that Regal only made striped ties:

Uh, no. Ties like that stay in collections. If stripes were the state flower then you could have them all.

This wonderful tie is made by renowned "Towncraft DeLuxe":







The first tie that I received from online and pulled out of that Birthday Box. "Wow! They're more beautiful than I imagined!" It can be seen in my High School Senior Portrait, and is Knot-Planned in the sense that the topmost "diamond" is intended to be on the knot when tied with a Windsor (Esquire? Bold Look? Coincidence? I think not!):





This is the skinniest tie that I owned before I found 1950s/1960s Skinny Ties at Goodwill, and it looks best with my green suit. I'd be very appreciative if there is a way to remove those nasty wrinkles on the side:





Remind to wear this tie when I meet The President. Or at least when I'm in D.C.
