At the same time I bought these'things'. Don't know how to wear them?

Regarding the two scarves about which you were inquiring as to how to knot them appropriately/correctly; That sort of scarf is a type of cravat and, by cravat, I mean something which really ought to be tied in a square knot. You should most certainly NOT tie them in anything resembling a four in hand or traditional neck tie knot. Think ascot cravat, like something worn during the Victorian era. This is correct as those are indeed both manifestations of the cravat. I own a black silk crepe one myself which I often wrap several times about my neck before knotting in an elaborate bow-tie-like arrangement or square knot! Cheers then!

While viewing the contents of a single lot of ties on ebay, I spotted a portion of this in a photograph. I was hoping that it was the Real McCoy, and it was. I have never seen another vintage tie featuring the classic trylon and perisphere motif. Has anybody else seen one like this? Lee

This particular '39 World's Fair tie is rare, rare, rare!

Silkscreened ones show up from time to time, and they tend to be very shoddily made. Yours is of woven rayon: not only is it of better quality, but ones like it practically NEVER show up on the open market!

Should you decide to sell the tie, you could probably fetch up to $200 for it on eBay.

Well done, eagle eye! :eusa_clap :eusa_clap

Wow! Thanks for the info, Marc. If I ever end up living on the corner of Alvarado and Sixth, I'll know what to sell first!:D

Btw, does anyone else like matching tie and pocket square sets?

There does not seem to be much interest in these..

I've got two of them, still in the box, 1950s. I've worn both of them once, and think they're quite solid-looking. There is the old controversy of wearing matching necktie and pocket square, but I would side with those who find them attractive.

This tie found its way into my hands yesterday, but I don't know for sure if I should love it or hate it... :eusa_doh:

What do you think? Comments appreciated!

Ah, glad to read I am in good company with the matching set. Some people consider it a big style no-no but if a man wears his clothes with confidence there is very little he cannot pull off with style!

I get a laugh out of the tie and matching shirt set. ;) :p
I know they had 'em back in the day but based on my associations I will always think of Benny Hill! :)

Sorry, mein herr, but I don't think it's a keeper. What is it, a zipper tie?

Thanks for your comment Widebrim, I think I'm with you. Someone who cleared out his closet gave it to me with a comment like "Hey, you like those weird ones, don't you?" [huh]
I think the "weirdest" tie I ever wore was a tartan one...

It's no zipper tie, I just didn't untie the knot for the picture. If it was I wouldn't even have touched it :D

This tie reminds me of root beer... Just when you think you're about to like it you get that awful shudder
