Thanks guys. Gotta love the thrift store sometimes.

The Good, there is a small black spot that looks like ink just above the second design up from the bottom. Part of the beauty of these old bold look ties, I suppose, is that they're so busy that if you get anything on them it doesn't readily stand out.

Looks great Dale! And 85 cents?!!!! In my area, 85 cents wont even get you pocket lint. :p

Yes, pocket lint is expensive. :p

You nailed it:

Great score there D. You might try oxiclean (or the $1 store variant I use) on that ink spot. If the color isn't fast, try applying the solution just to that spot. If oxiclean won't lift it, I'd give hydrogen peroxide on just the spot a try. You have some room to experiment because of the white background. Stain or no stain, I'd wear it.;)

Here's one that reminds me of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, or a manhole cover: 4" wide, silk, labeled Leightons of New York and Miami Beach.

Nice one A!
Appreciate the tip. I may try the oxyclean, I don't know. There's no telling how long that stain has had to set in. For 85¢ I'll probably just wear it as is.

liquid AWESOME is one of the best stain removers for any fabric. It will work on ties. To keep a tie from being "over washed" and mishaped, you have to do a few things very carefully. Put some awesome product right on the stain itself and let it sit for a long time....two hours. Then a bucket of cold water. Fill it up about one third of water, pour some awesome in the water and rub your tie in the water on the stain spot very gently. Let it sit and soak. Maybe an hour. Rub gently the stain spot again and then drain out the water, and use some straight tap water on the tie rinse it under the tap for a while, gently squeeze it a few times to help work out the awesome. Then soak in the bucket of cold water for a while, swoosh it around. Squeeze it out again and rinse under the tap again until you can tell you have all the awesome out of the tie material. Hang the tie up to dry. As it is drying, shape it flat with your fingers. Smooth as much of the wrinkles out of the material as you can and when the tie is almost bone dry, toss on the ironing board, use something over it so the iron does not touch the tie, old white clean diaper or something similar works great. Iron the tie flat. I have used a similar method for getting ink out of a white shirt pocket. NEVER use a brush to scrub any material with. You can TAP material with a tooth brush but no sawing/scrubbing motion. Tapping into material helps loosen up a stain. Brushing material sands it and shows up later. Oxyclean is the same thing as the old 20 mule team borax. Same exact product with a fatter price tag. Borax is about $4.00 a box and has twice the product as Oxyclean. Oxyclean can sell for about $6.00 or more for a lesser amount of product.
