Show us your TIES

Doran said:
I don't think it is a photo unless it was a photo and then was handpainted from the photo or something like that. No label.

I do have an "Ardley of Hollywood Originals by Phillipe Hand Painted" tie though. Perhaps I'll photograph that one.

Ok, then not likely a photo tie. They have the name on the tie itself.
Hand painted is something else that is for sure. Ardley was a very good brand. I have a few around here as well. My latest is a flamingo hand painted by a former Disney cartoon artist.

I got it not only for the art but:

I had to check out Priestley's Nor-East Fabric after seeing it referred to in old ads.
It had a few spots so my fingers are crossed about how well the dry cleaner gets out the spots and not the flamingo. I'll know after lunch when I pick it up.

Regards,

J

Three new ties.

3.25" silk twill from Express.
MVC-009F.jpg

3.75" wool from Polo Ralph Lauren.

2.25" silk knit from Polo Ralph Lauren, my favourite of this bunch. Working at TJ Maxx has its advantages. The knots are much less wide than they appear in the photos, FYI.

While digging around for the photo ties I found these 'themed' ties. I have well over 1000 vintage ties, but a major chunk of my collection is put away as I don't have much room to display all of them. They're not my favorites, either.

Here's some Countess Mara's:

I have lots of horse ties. Here's four of them that show what a variety they are:

I call these hand-painted ones 'drama in nature'...

Then my ugly farm animals:

The design of this tie doesn't really excite me, but the label sure does:

Here are a few newer ones.

One of my favorites, unfortunately it has a few nearly invisible holes in it.

A very nice soft-colored tie. The main color is brown.

Another of my favorites, I really like the 'Indian' pattern. "Hand Painted in California".

A thinner tie. Nice bold pattern.

Last but not least, I got this at Goodwill the other week.

Thunder, that Tour Eiffel is nice! So are the rest.

Quigley, the leftmost autumn tie you showed above, reminds me very much of the tie I posted recently in colors, theme, and artwork. Lovely.

Digging around for some autumn ties I didn't realize how many mid-50s ones I had. They probably came out in 1953 and the style lasted for around five years or so until the ties really narrowed down.

"New" mostly '30s ties.

I was the only bidder on these, and managed to get the lot for the sum of 7 bucks plus shipping. They're not all your typical colors or patterns.
