Its hard to tell from the pics, but the wool suit is dark blue with thin gray pin strip.
Its a Henry Grethel suit. Its not vintage but the quality is fine.

As for the fog...add snow, ice and slush and that what it was like driving around here today. The fog was incredibly dense in spots.

Thanks James, DNO. I've wanted one of these ever since I saw one on a TV show once. I think it was Antiques Roadshow or some such program. Years and years ago. And that Sunday, I struck gold! I'm very happy with it.

The antiques fair was very interesting. Most of it was junkish stuff, but there were some diamonds in the rough, if you knew where and how to look for it.

I'd never seen fog that thick, ever. I've been to Toronto in midwinter, but even there and then, I didn't see fog as thick as that.

Some crazy fog. We have been having some fog apperances here, and it is VERY thick. I will try to snap a photo if I can. It is usually limiting visibility to around 25 feet. Crazy stuff!

It cost him $90.00.

Hi Folks

I dropped the suit off at the dry cleaners today. I am having the length of the slacks taken up 1in. I decided not to go with a cuffed look.
The decker spectators are like new however Im not sure exactly what color suits would look snappy with a burgundy and black shoe,
Black suit perhaps? Maybe gray? or the Blue wool pin strip ?

We usually have good luck finding point blankets in local thrift stores. They were made for Hudson's Bay, Eatons and Simpsons...all Canadian retail chains. Actually they're still made for Hudson Bay stores. Terrific wool blankets, almost indestructible.

We found two red 3 points yesterday. They bear a label I didn't recognize:

Being unilingual it would predate the '70's. It would be tempting to conclude that the 'H B' refers to the Hudson Bay Company but I don't believe it does. Hudson Bay blankets had pretty distinctive labels (I certainly have enough of them!) and this isn't one. In addition, Hudson Bay point blankets have always been made at the same wool mill in England. I believe the blankets were supplied on contract to Ontario Hydro, perhaps for equipping line shacks or as emergency blankets for line trucks.

Has anyone encountered this sort of label before?

Found some stuff today!

Old Atlas from 1930 for schoolchildren. It's fun to look at old maps.

"The True Gentleman" reproduction printed in 1973 and originally written in 1849.

A shoehorn, I know it isn't so old but I like how it looks, besides it's now a little more fun to put on shoes when you have old looking shoehorn .

Theatre binoculars, would be great to have at Royal Ascot!

Thanks! There was mother of pearl ones too at the second hand store but I chose the cheaper one. I like the binoculars but I'm not entirely sure if I'm going to have use of them any time soon. Sure they would look great to have at a sports event but I'm not directly following sports. Anyway I'm going to find a case for them and then maybe have them with me when sightseeing. May I ask how much yours cost? Mine cost ~19$.

The shoehorn was a nice find as it's sturdy, good looking and it only cost me about 3 dollars.

I believe mine cost me about the same. $15-$20.00.

I'd been after a pair for a while. Dad tends to like going to the theater every now and then, and sometimes I like going with him. I wanted to enjoy the shows more, so I bought myself a pair.

There's only one 'car boot sale' (swap meet) hereabouts during the Winter months, but we wanted to get out and about today... it's held at an agricultural market, so this time of year the stalls are in the animal pens (thankfully, the guy with the water hose must've been on form this week, it can get a bit whiffy!)... not a lot of stuff, some cheap (and darned good) brie & smoked cheddar, but did manage to pick up a few bits...

The larger container would presumably hold 10" discs, either 78RPM singles or 10" Long Playing 33RPM albums (the 10" albums were seldom pressed in the UK , so I would expect that the box was for 78's). The smaller box would hold 45RPM singles or Extended Play "Albumettes", which were 7" in diameter. The seven inch format was also used very early on for 78's, but these boxes would post-date that, as they appear to have been made in the 1940's or 1950's, and of course in the UK 45RPM records were only introduced in 1952

Yeah, I was pretty amazed, the guy had two of 'em, and wanted £5 for both, but I only need/have room for one... when he said £2, I was gobsmacked – guess maths wasn't his best subject...

Shangas, you really do need to dig into some vinyl, especially as Australia has such a brilliant rock'n'roll history! Not least, The Easybeats, Missing Links, Saints, Masters Apprentices, Purple Hearts, Radio Birdman and You Am I! :eeek:

Vitanola, I made a hefty score of jazz and blues 10"s a few weeks back – all spotless, and just £2 each – which meant that the small area of my record unit that was reserved for 10"s/78 was suddenly over capacity! This case was most fortuitous, now they're all tucked up safely:

A Harris Tweed is on my thrift list. Don't own 1 as yet. Thought I was about to when I stopped into our local Goodwill store. But, alas, it was too small for me. Have been pretty lucky there of late finding clothes I've been wanting. Today did buy a charcoal gray cashmere blend, single-breasted topcoat. Been wanting a cashmere topcoat. No makers tag. Got it for $11. Earl
