Two books.

One pair of ratchet handcuffs.

One SWAN vestpocket fountain pen with original box.

One brass counter-bell (yes, another one).

James, they are a bit lacking. But I think it was left to people who knew how to operate the thing from other oven type instruments. Either way it will look good and it functions well.

Yesterday I went out and found a few things. A brand new red Boy Scout Jacket with tags, NOS bowling shoes with the box, An Ebonite bowling ball, bag and shoes, three Shoji screens---that they just about gave me for $5 and a few other things I can't remember. I saw a small Big Boy grille for $15 but it wasn't exactly new and it was missing a few pieces. There is a picture of it in my Big Boy BBQ Book though. Half price today maybe? :p

I got this at a yard sale Sunday, 50 cents. Autographed by Lieutenant William Liebenow of PT157 Pacific and Pt199 Europe, and torpedoman Welford West PT157. Liebenow led a very active career during WWII. Here is the biggest highlights: IN AUGUST 1943, LIEBENOW HAD RESCUED JOHN F. KENNEDY IN THE PACIFIC AFTER KENNEDY'S PT-109 WAS CUT IN HALF BY A JAPANESE DESTROYER. THEN, ON D-DAY, LIEBENOW AND CREW RESCUED MORE THAN 60 USS CORRY SURVIVORS OFF UTAH BEACH, NORMANDY. PT157 was called Aces And Eights for her insignia on the deck house. The Dead Mans Hand, must have been lucky for them!

Today after work I stopped at the thrift and picked up a Korean War-era US Army OD wool blanket, and a dated 1937 black wool tailcoat with silk lapels in fantastic condition. :)

Nice find. I couldn't help but laugh at the idea of what an Antiques Roadshow appraisal would maybe sound like, "It is worth $1200 with its original patina, but after polishing, it's worth around $50. All the value ended up on your rag."

I don't care about that. I'm not selling it. At any rate, give it a few decades and don't polish it, and it would look like the picture on the left again, anyway.
