Al has done well, yet ... AGAIN. You look fabulous!

Old Friend,

All I can say is that you look FABULOUS. Al has out done himself again. I'm glad that I was able to pass on my tailor to you. Trust me, I miss him and his shop. Keep the ol' boy in line for me. If it was not for Doran sending me an email outside of the Lounge, I would have never seen this. I only hope that I can find someone down here that do the level of work that he does. Tall order and all that rot. I have found a shirtmaker, but that's about it. Deckard screams about the cat from MyTailor.com...but I'm leery. We shall see. Say hello to Al for me. Tell him, like MacArthur...I'll be back.

FG.

Here are some photos of my new custom three piece tweed suit that were taken today. It's a "black" color tweed but if you can make out from the one close shot of the ticket pocket on the trousers there are a number of different colors that don't likely show well on monitors. Also the photos aren't as sharp as I would have liked, but I think that the outdoor natural light helps a bit. The trousers are high waisted;the top of the waistband is a little more than an inch above my navel. They have outside brace/suspender buttons and no belt loops (sorry but I don't have any photos with the waistcoat off yet). Thanks for looking.

Vests

Watching the movie Easter Parade the other day and seeing the vests on Astaire made me think how much I like those double breasted vests from the 30s....and then these great shots of Marc wearing them.:eusa_clap :eusa_clap :p

I really hope Marc would come back to the Lounge. He is an impeccable dresser, and an all around mensch!

I guess there is something I don't know.:( :( :( [huh]

All the intrigue is beyond me, too. Ah, well, I was a latecomer to the party...

Perhaps I should not give this away, but the gentleman in question has been spotted under another tag at another popular menswear board.

The only actual new (non-vintage) RTW suit I've bought in 4 years...more 50s, but I think it has a sort of 20s aesthetic when worn with the right accessories.
Club collar shirt, vintage tie, cream cable knit sweater vest, AE Cordovan Brogues

Am I the only one that thinks tucking in a vest looks ridiculous? Is it a joke I'm not in on?
If you're referring to Marc Chevalier, it's a double breasted one and thus has no points at the bottom which might be throwing you. They, like DB jackets, almost always have a straight bottom without fail. There are single breasted vests (mostly vintage) that have a straight bottom too, though.

Thanks for that input Jovan!

I have never seen a stright bottomed vest before, single or double breasted. Even though I was wrong about it being tucked in, I still think it bad looking.

I like them in illustrations more than on real people- it's an interesting and high class look but very few people pull it off, IMHO. I love the 3-piece black suit, but for some reason the odd vest looks strange to me...the look SHOULD work, but for some reason, it feels off.

Well, let's face it. The guys in the illustrations in the cutaway coats and striped pants and canes withe moustaches look great. But who could really pull that one off?

C. Aubrey Smith, without doubt.

I'm quite aware, but there is not alot of people or posts on that website.

I'm kind of mad no one will tell me because I really like Marc and thought he had alot to offer. I know I am being nosey but this is kind of personal and wish someone would just pm me about this. That way I could leave this at rest with out this whole "conspiracy."

The DB vest has and always will be one of the most elegant articles of clothing when paired with a 1 or 2 button peak lapel jacket.
