Today's zug is not comparable to past's zug grain from Martin's tannery. 60 years old Lotus boots seem more robust to me compared to one year old Tricker's grassmere. But Hoggs of Fife boots have quite thick and supple zug grain leather which I can recommend. It is nice that they are still available.

That's what I had heard as well. I know the Edward Greens that I have also have a rather thick, waxy, and supple leather when compared to other leathers I own, but I have no way of comparing this to the Trickers grassmere, Hoggs of Fife, or Lotus boots that you own. This is someone else's picture comparing the boots in Zug we purchased and the leather when compared to the thickness of a quarter.

EG should use a kind of zug which merits to be used by them.

As far as I see your boots' lining has also grains. Is it the same leather?

Yes, same exact leather inside as outside.

Hahaha! I have a pair of those myself! Had to get a mens size 5 1/2 for me as they do not have womens sizes. I used to wear them when "mucking" out the horse stables. I am not sure where they are at around here now, but they would need work done on them to wear again. Nice thing about the boots, they can be repaired with new soles and heels. My Husband calls them Jumper boots.

I am not sure where they are at around here now, but they would need work done on them to wear again. Nice thing about the boots, they can be repaired with new soles and heels. They are called Jump Boots because they were issued to American paratroopers in WWII. I got my first pair in 1966 when I signed up for jump school in the US Army. I wore that style of boots in uniform until I got out of the Army in 1980. The issue boots in the sixties were black. You can still get them but they are hard to find. I went through several pairs over years of hard use but they will last decades with proper care. They make excellent motorcycle boots.

Waiting for these to arrive today or tomorrow. Not vintage but vintage inspired. Johnston & Murphy off the bay. Saw some actual 40's Florshiem ones but it was too late as I bought these already. Can these be worn in the Fall?

The pure shoe wearing guide may say NO...but honestly my Husband wears what ever shoes he feels goes with the rest of his clothing. Actually he picks out what shoes he would want to wear first then builds the rest of his attire on that selection. I would avoid rain and snow with nicer shoes.

Oh yes...condition those shoes a lot and shoe trees a must!

Actually this is a late 50's to 1960's style originally. This gunboat style (with or without stormwelt) longwing derby.

No. Not with the cloth parts. Definitely a pure summer style.
