Been meaning to share these for a while, finally got around to digging the boxes out of the back of the closet.

Moc-toe white bucks by Re-Mix.

Hush Puppies from their 1958 commemorative collection. I'm a sucker for 1950s stuff, and they were on clearance for $35.
I can honestly say that for that price, they're great shoes, but for full $100+ retail, I couldn't reccomend them.

Like both pairs of these. My Husband had a few pair of hush puppy shoes, wore them out as they were comfortable. How do you like the remix shoes? They have a few pairs that sure have a nice look, but are they well made?

I'm impressed by the Re-Mix shoes. They were a gift from my wife, who owns about 1/2 dozen pairs of them. She loves them. I rarely put these to good use, but they are very comfortable when I do, and are made in a way so that they could be resoled if ever the need arises, and the materials used are top notch. I've considered getting a pair of their wing tips, but I'd probably get even less use out of them.
But on the rare occasion I did put them on.....I'd look good.

They do look decent, but they miss many of the details that made Golden Age US shoes so wonderful. Materials are mediocre at best. But, there isn't much else that's retro looking today in terms of dress shoes for men.

I am just peeking on the internet for some things I would like to purchase for my Husband's upcoming birthday and I find these never worn, (been tried on but not worn) Crusader brand shoes. Not just shoes, "Gunboats" that have something not seen too often going on with the welt area, appears to have a double welt? I ask the seller what they know about the shoes, they do not know much about them. Well, when they arrive, they go straight to the conditioner treatment, I can tell they are dry. Not sure about dating these, I would think late 1950's or 1960's? They have nice leather soles, no wear on any of the shoe. I just had to leap on these as they are not common, at least I don't think they are very common. Daniel will just love them, as he really likes gunboats. These are a nice size, appear to be a real roomy 10 1/2 (tad bit on the larger 10 1/2) and a D width but close measurement almost puts them at a 11D, 4 3/8 width.

Actually those are a 1950's version of the 1940's style that was very popular with students during that time period. Marketed to and sold mainly to high school and college students, Thom McAn had some of the nicest ones in the 40's. Be careful with the leather, though. That model had heavily corrected grain leather (less expensive flawed leather with plastics added to hide the imperfections and create a more glossy finish. The creasing is very heavy after being worn.

The Daily Brogue

On the left are my Herring Kendals (Made in England by Loake) which my kind family brought about as a Christmas present and t'other pair are my Loake Otterburns: another present but this time from my wife as she had spending money left over from a month long trip to Australia visiting her sister, niece and nephew.

Funeral & The City

Again from the left, a vintage pair of Alfred Sargent Selkirks with pronounced square toe and my most recent purchase, an English-made pair of Grenson Royal Windsor quarter brogues. The Sargent's are awaiting trees which should be winging (did you smoke it?) their way to me as I type. The Grenson's were a particular bargain having been garnered from the 'bay for the princely sum of eighteen pounds and ninety nine pennies. A perfect fit too.

All Together Now:

The group shot. Pardon the tatty garden bench and forlorn, soggy grass but at least the Snowdrops are out!

I'm excitedly looking forward to my Birthday as Dan at William Lennon's reckons my custom order of a pair of their 78PTC boots should be here in time. Whilst no-one would likely refer to these particular Lennon boots as brogues, in my dysfunctional mind, I have decreed them one eighth brogues by virtue of the brogue like, punched toe cap. Roll on April.

Neat. Where do these come from? I saw a lot of this style woven shoe down in Mexico years ago when I was there, but slip on were far more common.

A popular style in the 1940's, that pair has a stormwelt, which would lead me to guess early 1950's. Usually sole and heel pics are very helpful, but probably not necessary in this case.

The boots while not GE are welll made in Italy and the leather is great... Enjoy.

Aye, very nice boots! You can't beat a pair of brogues - every fella and indeed, lady, should have at least one pair be they boots or shoes.
