I don't believe these two pairs of spectators to be golden era however they are well made and I like their look... Plus they were cheap...

Can the shoe experts please assist with dating these spectators for me?

My more modern collection... Finding vintage shoes that are really comfortable and affordable is TOUGH... So I put together some nice boots (cole haan, an early pair of stacy adams that are well made and the dark brown pair are john V's) some nice spectators( Cole Haan) and two pair of
oxford spectators( cole haan/allan edmonds)...

Please keep posting the vintage shoes, I really enjoy seeing the classics and learning the quality makers...

Joe, those cobalt blue and white spectators...WOW! Very bold, but very, very stylish. Pair those with the right suit and accessories, and BOOM you're making a splash wherever you go. I love them!

I just bought a pair of stacy adams Maddison ankle boots, and I absolutely love them. I'll post pics soon. I wanted them because they're such a faithful reproduction of the 19th/early 20th century style ankle boots that were so ubiquitous (not to mention dapper as hell).

Hi Gin$Tonics-- Thank you for the kind reply.. I like the older SA shoes/boots.. My post above showing the cognac/orange boots between the brown and black boots is a decent well made SA... They need a good cleaning after surviving the NJ whether but all in all a decent, stylish pair of boots..

It is so true that at times finding what you want in a vintage shoe is not easy. However, if you keep searching they are out there. It just depends on what you are willing to spend, too. Aside from a few shoes I sell for my Husband at the moment, I have noticed that a few other Loungers have listings on etsy and eBay stores that are selling some really first class vintage shoes and have a decent amount of different sizes to fairly much be able to fit what you would be looking for. I always appreciate seeing what other people have to wear and the brands of the shoes. Still learning about shoes!

Hello. There is a good chance the shoes are from the mid 1970's, one pair has O'Sullivan heels, cannot make out the name on the other. O'Sullivan heels came fairly much standard issue on Mason brand name shoes, not sure that is who made your one pair? The typical metal eyelets for lacing, shape and material of the sole, would I think point to mid 1970's. At times replacement heels also are O'Sullivan.

Oh yes, any time you are doing shoe maintenance just use saddle soap, wash the shoe like you would wash your face, with a clothe. Rinse, let dry then a thin conditioner, apply that until you know it has soaked in the leather well, let the shoes sit a few days, then paste cream polish or a wax polish, the shoes should look better. Shoe trees are a must have. I only know all this from my Husband, and I have had to clean up and condition a good number of shoes. Hope this information helped you!

The madison is, thankfully, styled more like 1940's boots rather than much older models. The only vintage style maker that is so affordable today. Glad they kept their vintage lasts handy.

excellent traditional leather cleaning advice. Usually it is important to use a very mild cleaner on leathers to avoid damage. In this case, the leather is corrected grain, so the saddle soap will not penetrate the surface the same way it would for full grain. You can try a harsher cleaner and it will be fine. This CG leather contains plastic.

Been meaning to share these for a while, finally got around to digging the boxes out of the back of the closet.

Moc-toe white bucks by Re-Mix.

Hush Puppies from their 1958 commemorative collection. I'm a sucker for 1950s stuff, and they were on clearance for $35.
I can honestly say that for that price, they're great shoes, but for full $100+ retail, I couldn't reccomend them.
