all 3 pairs were circa 1940's. and yes, condition was quite good.

I recently stumbled across these two postings on the `bay. The first (which, I might add, is ending quite soon) is a pair of absolutely brilliant `30s brown and white spectators (they`re size 8 1/2).

Whilst they are ending soon that does not remove the fact that all three pairs are quite nice!

PS: I too am a huge fan of that welt stitch being that gorgeous cream color. Such a sharp look, IMO

In the 50s you see the return of the round front toecap. But not in the shape of these. The 50s round tocap were shorter from welt to vamp or run right up the vamp. I can think of no other era with that shaped front toecap IMO. Even the stitching on the toecap is so different. That pindot brogueing for instance:

With the 1920's Footwear, it is very much "be careful what you wish for". So many "high heels for men", or extreme square toes when they are "acceptable" height. There are some Gems, of course. However, the 1930's (thru the early 1940's) is when the US shoemakers really hit their stride. So incredible style-wise, materials, and construction that rivaled anyone. The pinacle of US shoes, in my opinion.

I just wish the Wrights fit...they are nominally 12D, but fit more like an 11C, which is a drag. So, they will be going for sale one of these days...
