Real nice. We have one handmade custom pair of Grensons..nice shoes.

Unfortunately the ripped a bit where the V lacing area finishes which could lead to a big rip in the vamp area (Not in this picture)

After conditioning and trying them on. Which means they're more dry than I expected and that is a weak spot which don't make them suitable for wear. I will keep them as display only I suppose which annoys me a bit but no point in wearing them and risking to break them or create a big rip.

Do you think some hand stitching going across that area would reinforce the leather to prevent a rip? You know making a "X" pattern over the bad area from one side to the other?

That might actually work, I'll ask my cobbler. I think they're just a tad too small even with the stretching so I might live with it and have them as an expensive treasure or sell them eventually warning of that.

Those are super nice shoes...would LOVE to own them for my Husband! The sewing a X over and across the area you point out regarding the small tear, it should work! It worked for a pair of shoes we had with a similar issue.

About 2 years ago, the extent of my shoe collection was a pair of sketchers sneakers and some 20 year old Teva sandals. I decided to splurge on some Allen Edmonds McTavish.

Once I knew about quality footwear, I got a little carried away shopping at thrift stores.

You're starting to look like our home...shoes in every closet and three shelfs in the basement, several air tight containers as well. I would recommend you get shoe trees and conditioner for all of those. Extend their life.....

I condition pretty regularly and I have about 9 pairs of shoe trees. Slowly building up. :)

Super nice...those suede ones are very nice. Do not see too many brown suede that look that good and certainly look to be true vintage as well.
I believe they are from the 30s or 40s and unfortunately, far too small for my 13D feet. I wish I could find something similar in my size.

I bought a pair of Thom McAn recently and they needed some love. I'll show you the seller pictures and pics after the cleaning.

I was using a mix of Glycerine and water for other leather shoes and two drops went to the left shoe heel. I haven't bothered to clean it.

Unfortunately they're too narrow for me so the gap in the lacing area looks horrible. They'll end up in the classifieds I guess. I have to sell some of the shoes I've bought and restored but are too small for me. I love bringing back to life old shoes but I wish I could be sure of the fit before buying! Measurements don't tell the whole story.

Rubber heels on vintage shoes as beautiful as they look compared to modern ones which are boring are always rock hard and have lost rubber properties. They'll need to be changed if someone plans on using these shoes.

What size do you think these are?

The rubber heels may be soaking in clear liquid silicone....a product I use to restore rubber or creape shoe bottoms or heels. You can not let it touch the leather. I put some in a oil tin like a pie pan, let the heel just sit right in the pan but not the leather sole. The silicone is made for the rubber trim on an automobile...but works great on shoe heels and also creape or a full rubber sole. It will not work on vintage rubber if the rubber has already started to crumble.

I would be very interested in buying these shoes depending on what size you think they may be, including what you measure them. I've been messing around with "ink dye" for suede...if I had those I would be tempted to dye them a light sky blue...but maybe would leave them all white. They are sharp!

They're a size 8.5D (485=8.5D). Beautiful shoes and excellent job cleaning them up!

Oh WOW! I will have some pictures up later...the hand made boots I had ordered MTO for Daniel just arrived from DHL. WOW! Just looking at them is amazing the way they are made. You can see everything done by hand, the work is just amazing, the quality of the leather is good, they have a great weight and balance, all leather lined, two pair of a cushion inserts for inside the boots, two pairs of lacings, a boot bag for storage, I am more then impressed. Closed channel stitching on the nice welts, and after I condition and polish these...they are going to look like mirrors.....I give these a 10+ and made from an old mastercraftsman in pakistan.....he sure knows how to make everything and make it right! I will be ordering again real soon. Like next week soon!

A very careful inspection and of course, a lot of communication with the maker of these boots, give them a 5 star rating for a number of reasons.

The leather ALL of it, was made by the maker, tanned, processed, dyed, formed, sewn, etc. The soles on these are the hardest soles I've ever seen. Made of Buffalo leather, tanned super well. The upper leather was a bit dry but still fresh from being tanned/colored. You could smell it. Nothing some Cadillac could not cure real quickly. I can find not one flaw in the leather or the "snuff" suede at all. The inside is goat skin leather. Super soft. And where the tongue goes into the base of the lacing area, you cannot feel any "lump" where it is sewn in...it is all super smooth, nothing to be digging into the top of your foot, just smooth and soft inside. Two sets of laces came with the boots also a large nice boot bag cover, and a custom insert for the inside of the boots if they needed anything more than what was already applied.

I had Daniel try these on....oh lord...they fit super well. You can see the craftsmanship in these and find a great appreciation for how they were made. Very elegant dress boot.
