Mesh spectators, Thom McAn. Any ideas on age? These are great summer shoes:

Late 40's, possibly early 50's. They are pretty small shoes, the proportions make them seem thicker in the waist than that model typically was. As a side note, those are not good trees for them. The vamp crease is still very evident with them inserted, and that strip of leather along the side will definitely crack.

All of the above but the spadish sole indicates more like the 40s to me. I like that style with the wingtip front.

I agree. The shape (aside from the very slight spade) threw me off a bit. It was a bit more thick-waisted than usually seen in the 40's, but the size of the shoes was a big factor in that.

All 3 Stetsons. Navy & white specs are 1930's & the 2 alligators are 40's- 50's.

The laces are being changed out for the silk ones from the correct era.

Johnston & Murphy spectators.

I've never worn J & Ms. These appear to be decent quality shoes, but nothing special. Unfortunately, they have started me thinking about a vintage pair spectators.

I have also picked up a new pair of formal evening shoes. Patent leather Ferragamos.

Those white specs are a superb find---especially in the Vintage Stetson. Stetson was a great shoe manufacturer from the period. They made great stylish shoes that still translate well today.

You are so right. The whole shift in shoes since James Bond wears C&J is a move to sleek shoes and in that Stetson was always a leader.

In the UK we have, what I call the Christmas Eve syndrome. It's where you see men going from shop to shop, desperately looking for that gift for their wife or girlfriend. The one they should have bought weeks earlier. So many gifts like raunchy underwear, perfume that somehow smells like the cat's litter box or garments that she takes one look at...No! All get returned, sold or passed off, some time in the future as raffle prizes.
Thankfully, having been married to a lady who makes it clear what she likes, I haven't fallen into that last minute disaster trap.

For sometime from September, it was made clear just how much she was lusting after a specialist pair of dance shoes. We are great fans of Latin & Ballroom. I didn't actually see the shoes when we were together, but her description was spot on. Small heels, cancan style, with a bow at the back, all covered in sequins. Santa remembered.
