I'm on a bit of a jewellery buzz at the moment:

We went to TKMaxx today for some items for hubby, but I found a few 50's style skirts and actually gasped, they have quite a good selection at the moment, and all long enough as well. My lovely husband bought me this brushed cotton skirt, which has the most vivid watercolour floral print.
When I walked out of the changing room I got complimented by two different people walking past. I adore it.

OOh that's a lovely skirt, so pretty! You're going to make stop at TK Maxx now, as i have been looking for some affordable summer skirts recently for work.

Lovely earrings Miss G. I've just snaffled a Lisner parure, in oranges, pinks and yellows, which is at the jewellers having some rhinestones put back in. I love a fifties set of costume and have a total clip-on earring fetish! They always sit so beautifully on the ear.

Kitfrances - love your dress, such a lovely colour and fabric. Great find!

I know, I recently went there and was surprised too! I got a floral circle skirt too Not this one, but one that is greyish with big purple flowers. very pleased too!

^Ooh, I tried that one as well, but it wasn't my size. They also had a lovely white one with black polka dots. I may go back next week and spend some of my money there. I really liked the one that is also in their TV ads. I remember seeing the ad and thinking that they never have full midi length skirts there, so didn't bother checking before. I love TKMaxx. Hubby just sighs when we walk past one now

I've never heard of TK Maxx before so I googled it. TJ Maxx is the parent company so I hope they have these skirts too but probably not.

Drappa - thank you! I LOVE your new skirt - gorgeous colours. I was looking at the circle skirt on the TKMax ad and thinking how lovely it was - I never go in there to shop but may have a look next time I'm in town.

Miss Sofia - thank you! I have a real soft spot for Lisner myself - you must post a photo of your parure once it's fixed - it sounds beautiful!

Romy Overdorp - you brave girl!!!!!! I have visions of movies like Haute Tension when I see blades like that!

I just bought this dress after watching it for months:

I also tried on these shoes today and they are so comfy, so I ordered them when I got home. They're perfect for walking the dog I think.

And this coat I meant to buy last year but never did. It isn't vintage, but I think it looks quite 50's.

Miss Sofia - thank you! The purse was so reasonable and looks in lovely condition. I can't count the amount of times I have been wearing something and thinking a navy clutch is just what this outfit needs - well I got it sorted - finally!!!!!!

Drappa - thank you! That is a lovely dress - it's great when you've had your eye on something for months and finally get to buy it - it's sooooo pretty!

You should be glad you didn't win it - it's arrived with a tear under the arm and a hole in the back. Not happy.

I don't want to send it back as I can fix it but I feel like I've been cheated somewhat - I wouldn't have paid as much had I known about the flaws. What do you ladies usually do in these situations? Has anyone ever had a part-refund?

Kate - Sorry to hear about your Swirl, so infuriating, although luckily it's fixable, although that's not the point is it?

I bought a dress from Ebay which was advertised as mint, but was missing a button, hook and eye and had a water-mark on the hem, again all things i could fix, but still maddening. I emailed the seller and she gave me a part refund straight away and was very apologetic. The dress did have a vivid pattern on, so she said she hadn't noticed the water-mark, or the fastenings which were inside the dress, so i gave her the benefit of the doubt.

So i think you should go for it.. Alot of sellers offer a full refund if the item is not as stated, so a part refund to fund the cost of the repairs and as a goodwill gesture for selling you an item that is so not as advertised, is a perfectly reasonable compromise i reckon.

Oh no, sorry to hear that! I would send the seller a message telling them you're disappointed and see what they say. If they get defensive and don't attempt to make it right, I'd either start a SNAD case on Ebay and send it back, or leave neutral or negative feedback.
If they're a good seller, they'll offer partial refund ( in one case I got the full purchase price and ended up paying only for shipping).
You could perhaps ask a tailor how much it would cost to fix and ask for that as a refund.

I agree Drappa, a good seller should at least offer a partial refund. Email them first and then if they won't play ball, threaten them with the negative feedback or start the SNAD case.

Just for info, don't threaten sellers with negative feedback, as that is considered feedback extortion and Ebay doesn't allow that!
The seller will know anyway that if the buyer is unhappy they could leave negative feedback, and will most likely try to work with the buyer.
