Ear warmer! That is what I couldn't think of! lol

Yep, it's similar to one I posted about a couple weeks ago. I bought mine at the Vermont Country Store. They were popular in the 50s and are a good way to stay warm without messing up your hair.

Looking at these catalog make me want to cry. Everything is so fantastic. Would you not give anything to be able to call up and submit your order. They are so great for reference too!

I've been naughty and bought so much lately. I'm most excited about receiving this 1941-42 edition of the Chicago Mail Order Company catalogue. I paid £20 for it but considering it's over 550 pages it's definitely worth it! :D

I also got 2 smaller catalogues from the same seller -

I love those old catalogs...gives me inspiration when I am sewing! Anytime you want to post more pictures, SarahLouise, feel free! It's like porn for vintage fashion lovers. :D

I picked up a couple goodies lately...I love this skirt because it fits me and it is so insanely goofy. It is red linen and appears to have never been washed!

And I found these at an estate sale on Friday for almost nothing. Since I am (regrettably) a size 9 and they are from the 50s, I was astounded. Now, to make a dress to go with them....

I cannot believe that they fit me, either. I have big ol' dogs, and these shoes are so comfortable. I can hardly wait to wear them!!

Pft. My dogs are bigger than your dogs. But your rooster is bigger than mine....

Bought this one because it reminds me of a couple of Mae Murray photos I'm fond of (linked below)...then realised I'm building a diamante bandeau collection. This is the third one!

Not sure how it will go on the Dutch Doll bob, but I'll find out:

Oh, Mojito that headpiece is lovely--I've only seen them rarely.

Lyburnum, I love the pink orchid set in the first picture, so pretty!

RHRH-that skirt is just fabulous! What are you going to wear with it? Because it just begs to be worn.

I found a couple of dresses at Goodwill--they were .50 each. The blue rose is a cotton, and looks homemade, and it needs the sleeves & hem hemmed, but appears unworn otherwise (I think it is 50s). The other is a mystery fabric, probably acetate. I think it is homemade also, and I'm unsure of the era--probably 80s with a vintage look. [huh]

Nice steals, Miss Brill! Given the fabric of the first one, I think it's probably 80s, not 50s, though it can be hard to tell. Is there a zipper and if so, what is it made of and where is it placed?

Even if they date to a more recent time, for 50 cents each, who cares?

I did pretty well this weekend at a local store:

Screwback glass earrings surrounded by rhinestones, cheap!
whiteearrings.jpg

2 sweater clips - the plain one was $5, the other one was free because one of the clips doesn't work properly (though it will still clip for the most part). I will probably never have a use for sweater clips, but I've never seen them anywhere and couldn't resist. Besides, I have grand plans to use them as hair ornamentation.

Lovely black hair comb. I am so thrilled about this!

Early 60s vinyl purse in tip top condition. I love the shape and couldn't resist myself. $13!

And the first thing I saw when I walked in the door - 2 pair of black 50s heels, $10 each and exactly my size. I have wide feet, so finding vintage heels that fit me is a real challenge. They are in excellent condition and aren't too tall either. The ones with the rhinestones have a metal heel tip too!
