Fall's just around the corner, and I'm hoping it'll be quite a bit cooler than last year so I have more chances to wear this recent purchase:

Nikki,Goldwyn,and Clara-Very pretty dresses.

Well, now that I've lost the majority of my pregnancy weight I am re-stocking my wardrobe with mostly vintage-inspired pieces.I've really been on a dress kick and I'll have to start stocking some seperates soon.
Here's what I've found so far.

My 2 splurges:1st dress-Light blue 50s inspired daydress with sailor tie, found at Banana Republic Outlet for $40,2nd-Late 50s inspired Isaac Mizrahi daydress, found at Target.

I have that flowered dress I love it! Darn, I don't have photos of me in it, I wore it on my birthday.

Shortclara, here's the chair the motif on your gorgeous dress is based on - you're probably already familiar with it:

I saw the Tut exhibit when it came through Los Angeles a couple of years ago... I swear I saw this same art on a golden box, the size of a small trunk. It was engraved with happy marriage scenes of Tut and his young wife. It was incredibly touching, as it showed how people are people, no matter where or when you come from. Thanks again Mojito :)

Nice to see you popping back in here KamiKat...Welcome back!

Thanks for the welcome!!! I went through this whole extistential "I'm too old to play dress up" thing, only to realize that a girl is never to old to feel pretty.

I know, I'm the sucker that just describes their purchases instead of posting pictures (usually too lazy!), but this time I really don't have my camera cord, so there's no way I can post a picture. Once I get home though, I'll definitely take a picture, because it is just too good of a find.

It's a 100% wool, probably 1950's, cropped sea-foam green jacket. It reminds me of a man's jacket, but it's definitely been feminized. It's totally the bad girl jacket, and it'll look AMAZING with a high waisted pair of jeans. The best part -- it only cost $20!

That Vogue 2885 has been on my "to do" list for awhile--I love that suit! If you make the skirt will you let us know how it goes (on the sewing thread, of course)?

Stuff I bought!

DSC00645.jpg

$8 at a church consignment place. Its made of 'feather' (fake leather lol ). Im not sure how vintage it is, but all the fixtures are metal, its got purse feet, and its lined in satin.

DSC00644.jpg

This purse is supercute but I paid way too much for it.

DSC00646.jpg

Especially after finding this purse outside a vintage store in their 'discounted ben'. I got it free! :eusa_doh: So I ended up with two white purses on the same day.

DSC00633.jpg

They are from the 40s and fit great. That is all Im gonna say :D

DSC00635.jpg

This isa 50 rayon number I got. I added a band around the bottom, the hem was trashed.

And my patterns came in!!! Ill post those in the patterns thread.

Lady Day, I adore those shoes! That's my favourite type of shoe, I have a pair of Chie Mihara drum shoes that are that kind of model too, and I wore them all winter and lots during the danish spring (cold!). They are so great and the heel looks great with seams and is a sensible height.

Lady Day, thank you, you are very sweet! Though I am sure with your sewing talent you could easily whip something up to put that to shame!:eusa_clap And I must chime in to say I adore all of your purchases, especially the shoes, they're wonderful! :)

Hancock Fabrics had Vogue patterns on sale for $3.99 today, so I picked up a couple.

I was hoping 2885 would be a pencil skirt, based on the drawing, but it appears to be a typical A-line 40's early 40's skirt.

Number 2858 looks it could be used to make something similar to "Veronica Revisited" from http://www.revampvintage.com/

:rage: I posted these were going on sale there weeks ago and wouldn't ya know I forgot!!!:rage:
Thanks Kamikat!:D

I bought these two things recently--the pattern isn't Golden Age but still cool. I especially love the magazine, it's one I haven't seen before. I also ordered a supercute novelty patterned dress online, I'll post pictures when it arrives (fingers crossed that it will fit).
