Why do you ask?
On a lark, I went to the thrift shop around the corner from me to see if I found anything worth buying. While there, I found a nice pair of Polo trousers and a shirt. Before I left the shop, I ran into my grandmother who insisted on paying for my stuff. Once I got my purchases home and was trying them on, I stuck my hand into the pants pocket.

it came out with that inside of it. :eusa_clap

So, not only did I get a free pair of pants and a shirt, but $20 in cash.:)

True, true. You are very correct about that. I'm aware that if everyone shopped like I do we'd have 40% unemployment. It's that fact which is the only slight downer about my thrifting ways - but darn it, I really love the old-time quality.

HarpPlayerGene, I keep telling myself that I'm being environmentally-friendly by purchasing used items...saving the raw materials that would have gone into new items.

What do you think of the age estimate?

Looks ealier to me, perhaps from the '30s or even late '20s? I don't know European pieces very well, tho.

^ It's not too heavy. Well, it's heavy but the fabric isn't that dense, quite fluffy.

The buttons seem to be plastic or bakelite I can't really tell the difference.

It's got the coat hanger chain in blue steel.

I don't think it's older than that but It's hard to say.

Doesn't look like a British branding mark.

Seen Lightnings on vintage Swedish and Danish gear, too-
although there are Swedish zippers- "Gusum" is an old Swedish zip/per co.

SPROILY!!!
Please get me one- size 42, that's 52 eur.
I just made the same request on the WAYWT thread.

Here's a bit of a Swedish/American/Canadian/British zipper history lesson:

...just a bit, mind.
