Hi Ladies :)

I'm a new member of the forum and haven't commented until now, but I've been reading for awhile and I'm so intrigued with your ability to do your hair so well. I've been practicing, but since I just cut bangs, I'm wondering if I'm getting the look right. I'm trying to go for a late 40s early 50's look. Any thoughts? Thank you :)

40'sfetish, Scarlett, Tatum, Kitty_Sheridan.... Thank you!! I was so nervous to post, because I didn't know if I was doing it right, but now I feel so much better. You really made my day :)
Thank you for the eyebrow comments too! Naturally they look like 70s Brooke Shields, but I've been plucking them like Vivien Leigh's eyebrows since the first time my mom let me get my hands on the tweezers LOL
Thank you again!

Squeeeeeeeeeeee!!! My girl RUE! So glad to see you on here, yay!
The "dark side" looks great on you! I love it!!
You fit the look perfectly, truly. But you're a gorgeous doll no matter what. Those eyes and brows...gahhhh!! FAB.
What did you use to get your great curls?
Nikki

Hi sweet Nikki!! Yep... the dark side LOL Thank you for the compliments. You are FAR too kind my beautiful friend (blushing).

I used two rows of smallish sponge rollers on the sides and medium ones in the back on my dry hair. The only product I used was setting lotion before I dried it and hair spray before I rolled it and I left them in for about two and a half hours.

xoxo,

I made a hair video last night on brushing techniques. This should help the new gals who get frightened off by the clown hair they sometimes get when brushing out pin curls. You can watch the video at my blog here!!!!

Very cute video. :eusa_clap
I think you explained your brushing out technique really well and I did pick up a few things that I wasn't doing that I might try. What was that last product you put in your hair after the water and setting lotion? It looked like the part were most girls go for the basic pomade but I know you said it was some kind of hair treatment (I had bad sound quality not sure if it was my computer or your recording sounded like a busy road or rushing water in background).

buddy5909... Thanks so much!

L-o-LGal... No worries... the sound is my recording, not your computer. The last thing I used on my hair is called R&B from Lush... You can find it here. It is kind of a leave in, but it works nicely for me as a balm that aids in the smoothing of my kink. It is heavily perfumed, although it smells lovely! If you have a LUSH near you, go in and test it out in the store. It may seem pricey for the small jar, but I since I only use it as a styling aid, it lasts forever! It's not a stiff hold like a pomade is, but it does help.

Let me know how the technique works for you. I am curious how well it works for others. I can only base the technique from my hair.

Great video, I love your personality!

I wonder if brushing out pin curls with a Tangle Teezer would work?
