My hair the other day, on the fifth day of the set, with only a slight wave left to it, caught back so gives the illusion of a shorter style.

Clara B, your tutorial is very helpful and you look absolutely out of this world in the final photos.
I will try to follow it as I have been admiring your style. Got the other day some foam rollers and they are indeed easier to sleep on. Only got the big dimension, the pink ones, so I'll have to go back for smaller ones. I am actually waiting to get those out of my hair now, so I am curious about the results. The only thing I will say is that compared to the perm rods and bendy rollers I have been using so far, I can't seem to be able to roll these ones as close to the head as I would like - surely a problem with my technique there. [huh]

I am also curious about the results of this set as it's my third time with lottabody, which so far has failed to give me the promised results - strong bouncy shiny curls, long lasting and with a "no product" look to them. My hair did not curl enough, curls dropped fast and they definitely looked producty. This has been disappointing as so many of you ladies swear by it and I was so happy when I finally got a bottle as where I live is not so easy to come by one.
First time I used a 1/3 dilution, then extremely little , now none at all, straight from the bottle, see if it makes a change. :(

I love the shorter look. You are so pretty, any hairstyle is wearable for you! Long hair is so versatile- you make me miss my own long hair, though mine was in no way as stunning as yours.

I'm so glad you found my tutorial helpful and I really hope you like the results of the foam roller set. You must show us your results if you are pleased with them!
As far as Lottabody goes, I do believe I have never used it properly as I've never really liked the results. What I didn't include in the tutorial is the fact that I sometimes put a bit of undiluted setting lotion on my hair just after I take the rollers out. I'm sure that some ladies here just cringed at the idea of putting any setting lotion on dry hair, but it seems to work for me. [huh]

My set has failed again. Not even worth a picture. I guess lottabody hates me.

It did produce better results with my sister's hair which I rolled up yesterday for her. She did quite liked it although she's not into this sort of thing - she said she would wear her hair like that for an occasion but not in the middle of the day in the street. After the photos were taken she washed it out and restyled it in her usual way. She looked a bit sad afterwards, I think she just didn't have the guts to go for it because the feedback from her boyfriend and my husband was not that great. But her guy hates lipstick! I mean, what kind of man is that?!
Anyway, I may be biased, but I did like her look (hair & make up by me :) ). I think it could look a lot better too, with some practice and variations of styling. Here are some photos, and I am posting a couple of links if you want to see how she styles it herself for comparison. I must say I really hate her cut and also wished she had stayed brunette.

Admittedly her hair looks bad even for how she does it in the outdoor picture, but still, there's no comparison really, is there?! Is it me who's really partial to this?

deco doll hair

Another vintage event, another great set by Kai in SF. This time for the Art Deco Ball Saturday evening 5/16 at the Paramount Theater Oakland, CA in - my hair was done in the afternoon. This time he did a 1930s look to go with my vintage inspired silk chiffon dress with beading and velvet appliques. Wet set on same type of rollers; an asymmetrical, big and slightly fuzzy style that came off being perfect for the dress and the event! I had many Art Deco Society ladies and other attendees there comment on how perfect my hair and dress looked.

Head shot- look I'm wearing movie star style false eyelashes- too much fun!

Art Deco 'do-two days later

I had my hair set on Saturday afternoon, here's is how it looked on Monday early evening. Still had plenty of curl left. I used a piece of real silk satin fabric to wrap around my pillow (soon I'll actually sew it up as a proper pillowcase, promise!), I'm a tosser, turner and squirmer all night- so its tough on the hairdo!

I had on Sautrday afternoon received this lovely vintage mid 1930s gold and brown suit (jacket off in these pics) as a gift from a new Art Deco friend. The bodice was too big for her, so she thought of me. It is a bit too big for me too- but I can get the bodice altered and the skirt shortened up some too. The dark chocolate brown skirt color looks really nice with the dark brown fur stole and the little hat.

showing the back of my hairdo, I love all the little curls!

Thanks ohairas!

The shoes are by "ME TOO" , bought early this year at Nordstrom. They are a similar design to the pair of vintage 40s shoes I recently got, but heavier and the heel is not period correct at all. Though they make a really good modern substitute for the real thing!
