I'm assuming then that you have a portable hood dryer?? What is it, and where did you find yours please.
For my wet sets my hairdresser said getting a portable hood dryer would be a good idea (I sit under on at the Salon for like 30-45 minutes), or else to sleep overnite with the curlers in.

Yes I do have a hood dryer and I love it. I purchased mine before I started styling my hair vintage from an online company for very cheap. The dryer is a Hot Tools dryer- like this one- and, for me, it works great! It would honestly take years to dry my wet hair but so do the salon dryers. I use this dryer for damp sets or dry sets spritzed with a bit of diluted setting lotion and find it makes a big difference in the longevity and appearance of my set.

You always have such a lovely front wave. I think I remember you saying once that your grandmother or someone does one similarly. I'd especially love to hear tips on how you do that. Also, Perhaps my hair is simply too long but I find that whenever I brush out curls they end up frizzing and then brushing straight. It looks like yours are the perfect mix of blending (not ringlets) but not falling out. I'd greatly appreciate any tips! Thanks :)

Audrey- The front wave, I suspect, is a result of training and perhaps the cut of my hair. With that last set I posted I made no attempt at a front wave and yet when I brushed my hair out it was there anyway. I've gotten into the habit of combing my hair back after a shower and then pushing my hair up so I get a wave in the front, now it just kind of does it by itself. My hair, at this point, is like pipe cleaners, it seems to hold any shape I ask it to. I blame the remnants of my perm combined with my natural wavy texture.

I have a similar problem with brushing the curl straight with my hot roller sets, especially if I don't or can't leave the rollers in for very long. What I find makes the best, longest lasting curl, is a wet set with foam rollers left to dry over night. Sometimes, with this set, my hair is too curly and I have to spend way too long brushing it to get it to where I like it. Is your hair naturally straight? I suspect that texture plays a big part in the longevity of curls. Perhaps a way to get around this is by using more setting lotion.

I am definitely planning on doing a tutorial very soon so hopefully everything I am saying will be clearer after viewing it.

It is my birthday! And last night we did a 1950's themed pub crawl to celebrate. I will post pictures of the dress I made as soon as I get them from my brother, but here is one of my hair I took with the 'ole camera phone. Rag rollers rock.

THANKS!! you are sweet.

The crawl was fun....we just hit a few bars in Boise...I was visiting for a family reunion and hooked up with some old highschool buddies for the night. Some of them I had not seen in 20 years. Half of the gals dressed up, and my brother did too---bless his heart.

I really wanted to dance to an 80's explosion, but the DJ's were too young to know *any* of the songs I requested AND they were super pretentious and mean. lol That was the only disappointment. :)
Other than that, it was an awesome night.....we were out until 4am and hiked to the top of Camel's Back Park in our heels and crinolines to howl at the full moon...my best friend fell in the grass and sprained both her ankles. She is in a wheelchair today....but in good spirits. :) We had a good laugh about it.
I guess we are getting a little too old for the hijinks.

I may have to get those frames filled with prescription lenses. Aren't they *rad*? I got them on ebay for like 15 bucks or something this last year. They are late 40s, but I thought they still looked fine just fine.

Thankyou for all the compliments....I had so much fun and felt like a princess. It's rare I put the whole look together, so it warms my heart hearing I got it right. :)
