Honestly, I go away for the weekend and come back to all this hair loveliness!!

Smuterella the rolled fringe looks awesome! Mine rarely stays put all day so I'm very envious - good work Mrs.

Fifties freak - spectacular!

Betty - pure class as always :)

MissMelly: love the wave at the side - or is it the side of a roll?

VintageBetty, Your hair looks great and it looks like you have been doing this forever! I am jealous because I can't wear my hair down, the curl always falls out. I think because of the length of my hair.

Laura, Trust me you do NOT want my hair LOL IT is actually pretty thin but very long, about 6 inches past my rear. So the length kind of makes up for how thin it is. You can't really tell when it is up, I will snap a pic of it down to show you.

Smuterella, It actually is not too much effort, the worst of it was curling the ends of my hair. I am so used to rolling my hair since I usually wear it up everyday. Then I just curled the ends with a curling iron and pinned it up. Our Sunday evening church services are dressy so I usually put a little more effort into my hair.

Thank you Miss Hannah!

It's both...well, it's not really a roll but it it is pinned back. I have know idea how my hair decided to give me a wave there.:p lol
Thanks!

I must tell you all that as awesome as Miss Melly looks in her pics here, she and her hair were even more gorgeous in person!

So after weeks of practicing, this is what I ended up with for the actual event. I was running late (I totally underestimated the amount of time it takes to adequately brush out pincurls) so I didn't have time to take pics beforehand. My sweetie snapped photos at the event but a lot of them turned out blurry, alas, and the rolls don't show up too well. I'm going to keep practicing--I want them higher!

And this is the wrong forum, but I just had to throw in a pic of the shoes...I inherited them from my mom, who wore them in the '40s. My feet are a touch bigger than hers, but who cares about a trifling thing like size??

Here's my latest attempts at starting to roll my hair:

That's a great link Laura (I'm a Laura too ;)) Thanks for posting it.

Well, my name is actually Lejla, but my nick is Laura Chase, like in the Margaret Atwood book The Blind Assassin.

I especially thought this Diagonal Half-Wave was pretty, I will try it tonight.

VintageBetty; That is lovely hair & a lovely sweater ;)
Fifties*Freak; also amazing hair! I'm a fan of big hair and that is some big hair right there!!
MissMelly; Loving that side curl thingy there. My fringe isn't long enough to get a good curl like that yet.

In all, very jealous of the long, wavy, big hair

Also, after looking at the link Laura Chase posted, I decided that I will never, ever, ever have the patience for pin curls. Or sculpture curls for that matter.
