Johanna I am so jealous of your perfect curls - do you pincurl or use rollers or a curling iron? Or a combination?

I tried two little rolls at the front today... does it work or just look odd? I'm still undecided:

I think it looks nice.
:eek:fftopic: I saw someone that looks a lot like you on the tube the other day... do you use the tube? Either the Piccadilly or Northern Line perhaps.

Wouldn't have been me, I haven't been on the tube since before christmas. There is a lady in London called Lyn who everyone tells me I am a dead ringer for though so it could have been her!

Oh and thanks, I'm glad you approve :)

Hannah I commented on your hair in the What are you wearing today thread, but I want to say again how great it looks. Incredibly vintage, and you don't see many gals sporting it today. It really suits you!

Thank you Nikki - I take it as a great compliment coming from a lady so beautifully coiffeured as yourself.

I had yet another go at pincurls last night. Slept on them with my hair in a wrap (much more comfy and stops the pins working their way out as much too). Took them out at lunchtime today and discovered a few were rather misshapen so used curling tongs on those. I failed to get any kind of symmetry but I think they look ok. They haven't lasted either as I didn't use any setting lotion or anything. Excuse the pyjamas ;)

Wow MissHannah!!!!!! It's "superbe"!!!!! I love it!!!! Your curls seem so smooth!!! I have a lot of troubles to set my hair with hot sticks!! Everytime they fall!!! Plus, I can't put a lot of sticks at the back of my head, so it's weird!! I've got a lot of curls on each side, but not a lot in the back lol lol lol!!! Any tips?? Is the pincurl set more effective than the hot set?? I hope it make sense lol lol!!!!!!

On the whole pincurls work best around the back for me but it is incredibly hard to get them looking even when you can only do them by feel! The best way is to try and grab hold of roughly the same size sections of hair at the back and roll them in the same direction each time (which is hard to work out - left and right get very muddled when your hands are behind your head and you're looking in a mirror!). The sides at the front never seem to hold the pincurls for me though so I always end up using a curling tong. Actually, small rollers work quite well on the sides for me, but until I get myself some Lottabody setting lotion I'm never going to get them to hold all day - they always end up going fuzzy and gradually succumbing to gravity! My hair is very thick and quite long and heavy so gravity is my sworn enemy :)

Miss Hannah, I am in love with your hair...sigh...

Is your hair all one length? I think if you were to layer it some.. or you know what else helps.. my hairdresser "lightens" up my hair by cutting some bulk out from the inside. When she does this, my hair seems to get more volume and hold curl better. But really I found that layers work the best. Also.. if you do smaller sections on the sides, that might hold better. Sometiems, our just doesn't like to work the way we want it to. :(

I had just made up my mind to keep my pixie and you gals keep posting all these cute vintage styles that entice me to grow some length back out.
Gorgeous hair by all.

On a side note,Imoldfashioned asked me to post some pics of my hair for her since she has decided to get a pixie. So here are a couple that turned out fairly decent:

47b8df32b3127cceb3f749e5a04700000026109AbOXLFk0bS

What I do love about this cut is that I just let it dry naturally and then apply a light texturizing cream.I think my styling time is less than a minute.

I've been thinking I should get some layers put in - I'm a little nervous about doing it in case my hair won't stay up very well anymore. It's mostly one length apart from the weak broken off bits at the sides (too much hot stuff!). Maybe just some subtle layers would work. And you're right about smaller sections at the sides, I think I often do them too thick.

Very cute! My hair was that length about a year ago.
