I'm so jealous jealous jealous! I see this is only a thread I should open when 'm feeling rich, as it makes me want to go shopping! I don't know if I have a FAVOURITE vintage dress, but this one is real 1940s and very beautiful (looks better in real life), really gorgeous detailed beading... I'm the one on the far left:

I have no idea how old this dress is...my mother and I found it about 7-8 years ago poking around in a vintage clothing shop somewhere in central Connecticut. I believe it was hand-made...there's no tag, and some of the details seem hand-sewn. This is the first time I've worn it, even though it fits me PERFECTLY. As soon as I figure out how to sew I'mmaking myself about 83 of these in all diferent colors. Sorry for the lousy photo taken in the ladies' room at work with my phone.

The ribbon on the belt is a lovely silk velvet and the neckline has cool buttonhole details that don't show up well in the photo.

This is a 'Mickey Around the House Dress' - which I love. I'd love to find more of these, I've only seen one other.

I'm a big fan of 1940s cotton day dresses

I wore this dress today, and an older lady at the Dollar store complimented me on the dress's nice fit.

Carol, I have a Mickey Around-The-House dress too! The design elements look very similar, just different print and trim color.

It's a bit too small for me these days...
I agree on 40s house dresses, so cute and easy to wear.

Hi Maggie, very cool! The only other Mickey Around the House dress that I've seen was on ebay a few years ago. It had a Summertime print and I think because of that it went very high, like $120 or something, which is way out of my price range!
The dress is basically cut straight down the sides, the tie belt pulls in the waist.

One of my favourite dresses is my 1930s black satin, bias evening gown. I had amazing metal gold thread flowers embroidered on the sleeves (it's actually a metal thread) and gold fabric stitched into the sleeves as a contrast with gold fabric I have never seen anywhere else. I wore it to dinner on the recent Queen Mary event in May.

Here are some pics:

A swing dance ball. They just don't make flowy satin like that anymore :(
