This one is a giant step out of my comfort zone! I normally avoid high necks, slimmer skirts and am terrified of mixing prints but I think I'm happy with it.

I bought a sewing machine off my landlady yesterday - still trying to identify the year - but the most exciting part for me is that it actually works. I'll probably end up sewing my fingers the first time i try to sew something. We shall see.

And that's a beautiful dress, Kamikat! The top color is great!!

Kamikat,
That dress is beautiful and looks great on you! (and your dog is beautiful too!) :)

Tuppencehapenny,
Your dress is beautiful too! The whole look is great! (But it is your gloves I really want to steal!) ;)

I finally got around to downloading a photo of my Christmas 2011 outfit. I made both the dress and the flower clip. The pattern used was the delightful Ceylon from Colette Patterns.

This is one of the Vintage Vogue reprints, 8728. It's a rayon jersey, which isn't authentic, but makes for a very comfortable dress.

Kamikat, what a lovely dress! It looks great on you. That style and the lovely drapy fabric may not be an authentic match, but they're a good one!

Beautiful dress, Kamikat!!

Yesterday I finally finished my first "One Hour Dress" using this book:

It only took me two weeks! lol Has anyone used this method? I made it up in muslin just to try it out. Here is the result.

I think it has potential, although this first attempt probably will be worn at most as a house dress (the white muslin is a little flimsy & see through!) I have a nice print cotton I want to try it in now that I know it will work.
