I hope you thanked him... that really ticks people off when they didn't mean it as a compliment!!

Cute top! Love the pattern! I too just started making pants and have to say they are not as scary to make as I once thought. :D

This is the second "uniform" shirt. I will take them both in tomorrow to have our logo put on.

Thanks! The pattern has a waist band much like a 1940s "IKE" jacket that the US Army wore... it's too short on me but I still like it!! Pants aren't as scary I thought they would be either!! Love your shirts BTW.

Made this skirt tonight from the same pattern I made the shorts and pants from. I know I said I was going to put it away, but I just love the fit! I added the flounce in the back just for a bit of a fun detail. Excuse the, um, lines I wasn't wearing the right undergarments. lol

Do any of you ladies know of a pattern for a winged bust dress? I guess that's what it's called...

You could adapt the burda pattern that Gertie uses for her bombshell course. If you do, be aware that the neckline is VERY low. I draped a pattern on my dress form for one. If you have one I could give you some pointers

Thanks! I will check it out! :D

I know it's just an apron but this is what I did along with another pencil/flouncy skirt today. It doesn't match the skirt I am wearing but I didn't want to change. lol

This is my first gown. I am working on outfits for portraits so the fact that this is pretty tight is ok. lol The girl we put it on will just have to be smaller than me!

This is just the cutest thing! I envy you for your skills!

I really need to get back behind my sewing machine :( I got so discouraged when I couldn't even get a straight seam, plus the general lack of time,..so i kind of gave up for now :( Boo

Thanks!!! :D

Do you ladies ever find it hard to NOT get sucked into those "will you fix this for me" projects? I find the second people hear that I have a sewing machine they want me to fix or alter something they have. They offer to pay or at least some do but then I never really know what I should charge so I end up just doing it for free. Maybe I just need to figure out a fee to charge???

Ha, I have the opposite problem; I keep offering but no one takes me up on it. :)

Lol I volunteer for my son's high school marching band so a large group of people found out I sew. :p

This is today's skirt, yep I used that pattern yet again. I am seriously going to need an intervention since I have some pink brocade that is going to be done up in one too. I am going to try my first strapless dress soon. I've never worked with boning so that should be interesting. lol

Added the pink one. :D

Figure out what is a liveable wage in your area and charge that. I think a reasonable fee would be $15 per hour. The people who are serious will pay it and the people who are just looking to get something for nothing won't. Since I used to sew for a living and choose to give it up, I generally quote a ridiculous price. I charge $45 to hem unlined trousers, $60 to hem a full skirt. I try to price myself out of the market because I know the lady at the closest dry cleaning shop charges less and could use the business. Many people think a hobbyist will work for free and try to take advantage of that.

Kamikat that sounds reasonable to ask 15 an hour.

This was my first time doing a strapless dress and working with boning. It went together really well and is way more comfortable than I thought it was going to be! :)
