e discovered Decades of Style. Just what I need as I embark on the whole learning to sew adventure. I don't want to get into using vintage patterns right away but I am also not really interested in modern styles. These are super cute and do lovely things for the tushie. How difficult was this pattern? I am lining up my first couple of projects and I would like to take a crack at these, but may have to wait a bit and get my skills up. Those sound like good first projects. The overalls are not what I would call a beginning pattern (I am almost done with mine). There is quite a lot of topstitching and a zipper (I never consider zippers easy). I made 2 muslins first and I suggest you do the same. My corresponding bust size fit perfectly, except I wanted to wear a heavy knit shirt under so I had to go up a size in the bust and then use one size down for the bottom half. I also made them in denim, so maybe that added to the difficulty. But if you go slow and have a good book for zipper insertion, you can do it!

kymeratale Glad to have inspired you!! I would get some experience before tackling these. jetgirl is right - try a muslin first to fit the bodice. I added darts coming in from the armpit edge and took a slice right down the center. Perhaps not the prettiest, but they seemed to help. And as you can see from the photo, it still poofs. Maybe I should get out my bullet bra! I found the bottom half to fit perfectly in my size, and, yes, it does curve nice over the tush! It was also a bit weird to close up the lining on the bodice. How did it go for you, jetgirl? It seemed confusing on the back where the straps are attached. Zippers can be a bit daunting, but you should get some opportunities to practice topstitching in other projects, kymeratale. I would recommend Decades of Style though. I know others have used them too. Can't wait to see your overalls, jetgirl!!

reconstructed actually, from an average mens button up collar shirt, to a simple peasant top. wound up being shorter than I wanted it, it started out as a rather long shirt lol

It's always neat to see what you've done LadyDay. Your pieces are very classy and distinctive - who else has a hankie peeking from their shoulder?! lol

I'm going to keep the ball rolling with a pair of overalls I did recently. This was my first crack at this pattern. I added some extra darts and tried to fit the bodice a bit more, but it's still a bit poofy for my tastes. I think I've become uber-picky on fit lately - a horrible side effect of never wearing off-the-rack clothing. The fabric is a bottomweight poly blend with awesome drape. Next pair will be in a print though to hide all my darts!
