I like the sort of sliding scale progression in this one.

There Ain't No Justice (1939)

This is a film for people who like the 'suit Jacket with jumper' look:

(nice 'v' detail in the knit)

pinstripe suit & plaid jumper

the jumper rather undermines the 'spiv' image

It somehow slipped my mind to research Greek films of the 1930s-1940s so far, but I just found a few gems.
The following screenshots were taken from a movie filmed during the German occupation.
While the film is typically a lightweight melodrama, the population apparently got so excited about a new Greek release amidst droning German propaganda, that the crowds leaving the cinemas started protesting against the occupation.

Not having seen many photographs of Greek civilians from the era, I was expecting some Romanian-style crazy localized mutations but the outfits in the film are actually surprisingly understated and balanced.

An interesting lapel-less, unstructured jacket that drapes like a cardigan:

A rather unappealing one button jacket.

Very nice braces:

Sharp lapels:

And the obligatory scruffy/workwear outfits:

It is perhaps noteworthy that there are very few hats worn in the film, and they are almost completely absent from the very young characters in the film.
However here is one very nicely worn hat:

And a nice, simple cap:

I've never posted in this thread before, but I came across this photo on eBay and I had to post it. Taken in 1935, it shows Will Rogers arriving in Alaska to fly with Wiley Post. Of course, that plane would crash and kill them both. The gentleman on the left is Victor A. Meyers, and man, look at that sportcoat.

Those sharp pockets are very similar to the ones on the green suit that was owned (if i remember correctly) by Marc Chevalier (and which caused much debate). I find them rather unattractive.

similar to the ones on Clark Gable's "It Happened One Night" jacket too.
i find the breast pocket too eye-catchingly square. the lower pockets i like, but think round corners would harmonise with the jacket more.

Yes, I immediately thought of It Happened One Night! I love it because it's just so different, especially looking back from 2014. Plus, I eat up sporty designs, and those pockets are as sporty and utilitarian as I've ever seen.

Those pants have the perfect cut. No break and a straight line down. Interestingly chunky tie and knot, as well.
What do you think about the cutaway on the suit jacket? Shortened?
