Thomas Coleman Younger died on this date, March 21, 1916 at age 72. In his lifetime he had been shot 17 times with 11 mini ball bullets remaining in his body at the time of his death. His father was killed at the beginning of the war after posting a cash Peace Bond to stay neutral, with Federal troops. He was shot & killed on his way home likely so the cash would disappear. No record, no cash...no crime.

And then to have the suave and sophisticated Gene Barry portray you on TV. Never missed an episode.
Been rereading the work of Masterson biographer Robert K. DeArment & he said there is no documented evidence that Masterson ever carried a cane, the idea that he carried one came from liberties taken in the fictional account written by Stuart Lake, & that Gene Barry picked it up from Lake's account. I put more in the cane thread.

DeArment just passed away in Jan @ age 95.

Don’t remember a portrayal other than Barry’s where he carried one and never read an historical account of him carrying one.
