Damon "Chub" Anderson (left) was a 16 yr fugitive from Kansas until he was captured in Montana in June 2006. For the past 36 yrs he was the primary suspect in the 1970 unsolved murder of Mr. E. C. Mullendore III, third generation owner of Oklahoma's Cross Bell Ranch.

A chance encounter in the courthouse that day in 2006 with "Buffalo" Dale Lewis (right), author & columnist for the Bartlesville Examiner-Enterprise was the beginning of a friendship which led to a confession over time to the Mullendore murder, details of which were not to be disclosed until after Anderson's death in Nov 2010.

I haven't seen the program or this article before now. Tibbets has made his claims before. The unnamed cowhand mentioned as also being there that night was Andersons brother-in-law. There's way too much detail to go into here now but the fact of the matter is there is no physical evidence to indicate there was anyone else there that night, & what physical evidence there is points to Anderson & always has.

The full story would make a fascinating movie but with their (once) enormous wealth & power the family has always fought all publicity & after all these yrs would just prefer to let the case stay cold.

Looks like a great story. One of those ongoing mysteries, like what happened to George Reeves.

I do agree with Tibbits that Anderson would not have called Gary Glantz on his deathbed. He hated Glantz; Anderson liked Lewis; & there was competition between Glantz & Lewis, & jealousy on the part of Glantz because he couldn't put the case together when he had the chance.
