The missing Paddy Moriarty of Larrimah, Northern Territory, Australia. Born in Ireland, Paddy arrived in Australia at the age of 16 & never left. Larrimah is a remote town with a population of just 10 residents & it is believed Paddy met his death in Dec 2017 at the hands of one of those residents. Fascinating case.

His 12 month old red Kelpie is missing also. It is said Paddy never went anywhere without wearing a hat, yet all of his hats & caps have been accounted for.

In the late 19th century, The British had for the first time, some disposable income that could be spent on leisure. These three Victorian photos depict popular sporting events. The Henley Regatta, The Epsom Derby and an England v Australia cricket match at Lords. (the name of Middlesex Cricket Club, or MCC.) Just look at their hats.

1960....former President Truman being presented a hat by then Senator LBJ with Truman showing how he creased his hats. Article copy is interesting because apparently he was presented a 7 1/4 size.....and later it was replaced with a 7 3/8, Truman's true size. So....."size DOES matter".:eek:;) Sorry just felt compelled........:D:)

02/14/1944 an inovative new type of hat (the new "demountable brim" model) being shown at a 1944 Chicago Convention of the Merchant Tailors and Designers Association of America. Brim zippers off!!!:eek::eek:
Article copy is wonderful.....titled: "Hat Check Girls Won't Like This".
Partial copy here: " If you are tired of buying back your hat whenever you go to restaurant or theater, just take it to pieces and put it in your pocket.":eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

Before Truman got into local Kansas City politics he was a partner in a habidashery. Located in one of four prominent hotels where all the powerful cattle barons stayed when they attended the stockyards weekly. He probably met many influential & powerful men & their families. He probably creased a hat or two in his time. I've never seen a hat embossed from his store.

I remember the stunt.

Canutt won the steer bulldogging in 1920 and 1921, and won the All-Around Police Gazette belt in 1917, 1919, 1920 and 1923.[

This statement made me wonder about the saddle trophy in the first pic. There appears to be a silver badge/shield on the taps and the skirt of the trophy saddle he is posing with and I am curious if this had something to do with the Police Gazette award.

Enos Edward "Yakima" Canutt, 1895-1986. Canutt was a rancher, rodeo cowboy, stuntman and had numerous positions related to stunt work in the movies. He performed his most famous stunt in "Stagecoach", dropping between galloping horses as they and the stagecoach drove over him.
