Dobbs Pork Pie

I posted this pic in the new hats thread, and thanks to GWD's prompt, I am posting it here where it belongs. I'll hopefully get some better pics of the actual hat in the next couple weeks.

Brown Stetson - Gun Club

While I'm at it, I guess I'll post this picture of me in my brown Stetson Gun Club. I've seen a bunch of Gun Clubs that do not happen to be Pork Pies, So I'm not sure if this one was reblocked, or if they came in several varieties.

As stated in my other pork pie post, I'll try to get some better pictures of these over the next couple of weeks, but this Stetson has that thin plastic (celluloid?) material between the sweat band and the inside of the hat which I have read about in another post a couple of months ago.

Hat Head -- FANTASTIC pics. My wife was droolin.'

No, but really, she liked them and now wants me to buy some porkpies.

(And that's why I showed her them, besides that I wanted her to see how someone could look simultaneously pleasant, intelligent, stylish, cool, and neatly done up.)

Thanks, Doran!

I wore that hat for a week in downtown Chicago on a business trip, and got a ton of compliments on it, from co-workers to doormen to bartenders to fellow bar patrons to people on the street.

Those are some nice hats. I don't have a porkpie yet, but I'm looking forward to getting one. I've always wanted one after seeing the French Connection.

Hello,

Behold my new porkpie, just out of the box!

PICT0502-1.jpg

It is a new Beaver Brand, in Navy. I loved the bow treatment with the contrasting colours. It comes with wind string, which I like, not that I use it, but a good detail for me. Felt is a 5X fur which I believe is their standard.

Regards!

Pretty hat! I have a brown Porkie, but now I want another one.

I wear one of my stingies with the brim turned up, and have thought about reshaping it. The only thing is I really love it the way it is, and I get to look forward to buying a new hat.

My Popeye Doyle

As I had mentioned on this thread before about wanting a pork pie ever since seeing The French Connection, I decided to buy a couple. Both Jaxon's, the Monk fur felt in gray, and the wool in black. I like both hats and will post pics of them later, but they didn't seem to satisify my urge to have a brown one with the unique pinch of the one worn by Gene Hackman in the movie. I had just received a vintage brown Champ fedora I had won on e-bay. The hat was the same color as Popeye's and has a 2 inch brim. I decided to go for it and create my own Popeye Doyle. Let me know what you think.

This is the what the hat did look like.

Here is a photo of Gene Hackman from the movie.

And here is my version of the hat.

Awesome job DW, you pulled it off well.....and I'll bet you even surprised yourself that it wasn't all that hard.......quite fun actually. I'll put money that you'll be finding more Lids on ebay to turn into pork pies in the near future.

By the way, it looks great on ya. :eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap

I think you did very well. You managed to keep the looks of Doyle's hat pretty effectively! :eusa_clap

Thanks guys, also thanks for the encouragement Bolt, it really wasn't that hard. I've been wearing it out the last few days and really enjoying it.
