Personally, I'd go for the Bulldog...English motiff I know, but non the less very classy.

Well, I got the Whangee and it was worth it.

I've owned a Brigg one piece for 5 years and it's like lugging around a giant lug. Too much effort to be jaunty.

I now have what I always wanted and swing it about. Whangee handled fox tube umbrella GT9.

I'll post pics soon.

I would like to see it as well, Mr. Deckard. I would think that is the perfect brollie for you, my good man. Personally, I enjoy caring my Brigg log around with me. It's a hunk of hickory and hard as nails. ;)

Still, one day, I may follow in your footsteps into a Fox Whangee.

I think it is gorgeous! I would love to see a close up of the handle sometime, though, I imagine, I will eventually see it in person.

It is a beautiful umbrella.

-I like the table and chairs too. Where is that?

So how about some more pix of Deckard's and Sen Jack's brollies???
I spent half the afternoon today perusing the various umbrella related threads, in pursuit of the ideal brolly. I settled on the Fox GT1 dark grain tube handled. As nice as they are, I just can't see shelling out over $300 for ANY umbrella. I went in to fill out all the screens to purchase one online and WHAMMY! They only take MasterCard and I only have Visa! MasterCard, I'm bummed!
I've been carrying around a cheap $10 full sized brolly for several months, as a dress rehearsal to see if I could go that long without losing it. So far, so good. This cheap (tho nice looking) thing is now falling apart. The handle is coming loose from the shaft, thus proving A., that I can hold onto a brolly long enough to think about getting a good one, and B., that cheap ones are just not worth investing in unless you absolutely PLAN to lose them. My theory is that if you know your umbrella cost you over $150, you'll be a hell of a lot more careful with it.
I emailed Fox to ask them what to do, like maybe they take Paypal. As a last resort I suppose I could send them a check.

If you use Paypal, you can install the Paypal Virtual Debit Card, which works like a MasterCard and debits the money from your Paypal account. I've used it when I have had money in my account and the merchant doesn't take Paypal directly.

There's loss and then there's the matter of theft. Nobody is going to walk off with a $10 brolly as they will with a $300 job. Simply stated, whenever it leaves your hand/sight, you may never see it again.

The two options they offer are polyester, for the cheapest (but not cheap!) models, and nylon for most of their line. I assume Sen J's is nylon. If it's worn, that's not a good sign!
