Published eh? Cool.

It's a great shame RF Has never really caught on in digital cameras, since it seems a natural system to use with a CCD in many ways.

What RF do you use?
Voightlander Bessa 2 and 4M both manual the 4M has built in finders for 21,25,28,35,& 50 the 2 has them for 35/50/75/90 so I don't need external viewfinders and I have not been using flash. With the lenses in the 20s the depth of field is about the entire focus range of 3ft to infinity.

I also have a Bessa L that has no viewfinder at all, so you use it stopped down and go with what ever speed gets you as close to hyperfocal as possible.

the rangefinder loves low light [no mirror slap] so I can hand hold at 15th to a 30th easy and I have a 35MM F1.2 so it can be really low light. These have Leica mount lenses

I will finish up my roll at the BBQ Saturday then decide if I am going to go B&W or color for the Queen Mary outing. Either way I plan on shooting lots of film.

Hi Folks,

I'm not sure if these qualify as art, but I'll share them with you, anyway.

I was once an avid duck hunter. Although commercial duck decoys have been made of cellulose or plastic since the 'fifties, back in the 1970s I became friends with a couple of elderly North Carolina carvers who still made wooden and canvas decoys the traditional way. Over the course of several years, before they passed away, those old fellows taught me their craft.

These are three of many decoys that I've made in the last several decades. They were not made for display. They are actual working decoys designed for a rough life of gunning on North Carolina's Core Sound. The brandt never saw action, but the other two have. In fact, the loon is from my personal hunting rig and has served as my thirty yard marker since 1985. Believe me, he's seen many icey, cold dawns.

When I make a decoy, I am carefull to make it using the same methods, and using the same kinds of materials as were availabe to the carvers in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. I don't use modern paints, glues or cloth. I purchase the wood I use (juniper) from a boatyard in Harker's Island that has been producing wooden boats for eighty years. In this way, I hope to be preserving a bit of coastal heritage. At least, that's my goal.

There's an old cemetary in my town, dates back to 1850. I recently went for a little photo hunt on a cloudy and rainy day. Here are some of the pics:

Very nice,Atticus!
You were, indeed fortunate to have had the chance to learn from a couple of "old school" craftsmen.
I had once hoped to learn something about gun engraving from a longtime friend before he retired. He was a master firearm engraver with a very unique style. However, instead of passing his technique on,he would cover his work in progress from prying eyes,so no newbie, like me,would learn exactly his methods of engraving. He went blind a few years before he had planned to retire. As far as I know there are no engravers, now, that do it as deep and detailed. Unfortunately,he didn't want an apprentice, but would rather have his unusual style end with him.

There continues to be a wonderful mixture of very nice work appearing in this thread.

Atticus - those decoys are wonderful pieces in their own right, regardless of function.

Here's another of mine:

People who don't like spiders probably shouldn't have looked at that. Oops. Too late. :D

CS2,....but the last was CS3, and I'm sure there will be a CS4 some time soon. It's been a year or so since CS3 came out.
You might be able to find an older version now like CS or CS2 on ebay for a decent price.

I have CS2 for some of the tools, but most of the time I still run PS7. I often have a lot of things running on my machine at any one time, and PS7 operates much faster than CS2.

I occasionally use CS3 for the panorama stitching and stuff, too.

Love that spider, Fatwoul. I like shooting insects, too...[/IMG]

So I see. I especially like the second one. Dog thinks you are photographing him, but you aren't.

Here are a couple more of mine. I'm a bit pressed for time so I haven't resized them. If they're too big someone tell me off and I'll reduce them.

Photography is new for me... and this was the second time I ever shot a man... with a camera that is. I am still learning how to shoot portraits so these aren't the greatest...

On my way home from San Francisco, I stopped at my friend, Josh Curtis's home and before I hit the road again we took a few shots. Here they are folks!

One of my two favourites.

My favourite-favourite. I know it is blurry, but I like the candidness of it.

And a little artsy fartsy shot with editing.

Thanks Feraud... Unfortunately I am learning by experimenting and not by studying... so while I am not the best, I still like the photos in the end.

Some people learn by studying and others by doing.
I like your style. Keep shooting.
