Hi, Has anyone made up any dresses using the sense and sensibility swing dress pattern? I need some summer frocks and thought maybe it would be a good versatile pattern?

That is 3780...my new favorite pattern! I am determined to make that one this week or next. I love the bodice on it. Anyone make it yet?

I sent mine off to Miss Shelley for the pattern swap! I'm not going to get around to sewing it for quite a while as I'm still just starting out I got mine for $1.99 at JoAnn's the other day - I do love a good bargain!

Oh goodie!!! And don't feel rushed at all to get it back to me...I'm still in beginner mode, so I won't be starting on that for a very long time! And thanks for the heads-up on the full mailbox...felt good to purge all those old messages!

I haven't tried it...but is sure is cute! You change the looks by doing solids, prints, of two tones with this one.

Fray check!

Does anyone know of anything that will take OUT fray check? I was using it on the overskirt of the jump dress where I had cut it at the knees... had sewn a new tulle underskirt, and the overskirt hung too close to it and STUCK! I got it un-stuck from the tulle(whew), but there is still the white hazy glue mark. I tried fingernail polish remover and goo-gone.

Some of my 50s dress patterns call for self covered belt buckles.
(Belt buckles to be covered in the same fabric as the dress)
Do they even make those any more?

I bought one a couple years back by Dritz, but I haven't been able to find them lately in the stores, and I didn't find them on the Dritz website.

Does anybody know if these are still made???

Those are like cloth covered buttons. You can get the casing for those from most fabric stores that tend to have older stock. I have found them here in the citay. But Im not too good at covering them without a gob of fabric hanging out somewhere.

I guess I'll have to seek out our local independent shops and see it I have better luck.

I had a problem similar to yours with my senior prom dress. As I recall, my mom and I used rubbing alcohol to take it out, with pretty good results. Just make sure the alcohol won't damage the fabric.

I don't know if Dritz quit making them, but everyone says they're out of stock. I'd call sewtrue and see if they have any (since they say if you don't see it to call to check availability.)

Ooh, what a cool thing! I've never seen that before. Much easier than covering a pre-made belt buckle, like I've been doing! I don't do it often, because it's so hard.

If you're interested in making the belt eyelets on your machine, check to see if you can buy an eyelet plate. You cut your hole, slide it onto the peg on the eyelet plate, which holds it steady and keeps it a uniform size and shape. Or you can do it by hand. (I just make the one hole in the exact spot I need. Hopefully I don't change size. )

I have an eyelet for my buttonhole attachment, so I've never thought much about them.

FYI: for those of you with a Wal-Mart with a fabric department, seems the granny chic is finally hitting the bargain bins. I've seen quite a bit of 40 and 50's repro fabrics for $1-$2 and there always seems to be plenty of it, AND most of it is decent quality on there (for a change).
