As some of the UK chaps may know, there was a big fire over the weekend at a hotel in Newquay.

Have now identified it as one of the gorgeous Deco buildings facing the sea.

Anyone who has ever spent any time in Newquay will I'm sure join with me in mourning not only the loss of life - which was thankfully not as great as it could have been - but the loss of one of the lovely buildings that made the resort what it was.

I have never been to Newquay but have obviously been following the reports of the fire in the media also the calls for local fire station to now be manned full time or at least during the summer.

There are regrettably "issues" around whether a lot of the fire stations down here should be manned at all....
