Oh man!! This stuff is just INCREDIBLE. But I have no idea how to buy any of it!

Okay, here's a hint to you aspiring clothiers out there. If you want to sell product, stop with the "cool" photography/illustration nonsense! If I'm going to buy something (particularly at the prices you are likely charging) I want to see the item! I don't want to see it wadded up, hidden behind chicken wire, photographed from every awkward inconvenient angle your artsy little pea brain can conceive of. This is not a National Geographic cover...you are not going to win a Pulitzer prize for the picture. I want to see the front, sometimes back, possibly on a model to see how it hangs so I can make an informed decision of whether it is something I want to buy or not. This also goes for the folks that have the cute concept of using Photoshop to take a picture and alter it to look like some sort of crayon or charcoal sketch. Just because you have the technology, doesn't mean you are obligated to use it! Rant over.

Wot he said, with the caveat that the models should be 'normal' and not rail-thin, stoop-shouldered teens! Men, that's who these clothes were designed for, not children! :D

*claps* Well said! I spent about 5 minutes trying to navigate that website and totally gave up.

I can't believe that I'm going to say this, but Old Navy has 2 pretty good shawl collar cardigans. The price point is ridiculous, but when they are on sale I'll snap 'em up.

My wife bought the gray one for me on sale. Very comfortable and perfect for the cold-and-rainy weather we're experiencing right now. I just wish I had a large, stone fireplace in front of which to lounge instead of a small, brick, coal burner.

Beware, I found it ran a bit small in the chest. A large fit me, but the button was pulling.

I'm super jazzed about this. It's a shameless copy of Mike's belt from SUFU, made by Scott from Don't Mourn, Organize. I should have it this week. (Yes, he added the rivet near the end before shipping.) Next week, I should also have a card case from Zissou.

Noteworthy ON items

This one has been mentioned before. It's nice and thick fleece. On sale for $35 online.

I liked this one, but a little steep for ON at $79. Has hood that rolls into the shawl collar

Cheapest pleather, but at $30 you can beat the crap out of it.

For those with the grey shawl collar cardigan from Old Navy:

Do you think it's possible to get the length hemmed?

I've been going back and forth about this cardigan and realized the only thing that makes it lack luster for myself, is the length. Everything else is fine, but the length is too long to wear it with any jacket over it, and certain shirts under it. I might try to get store credit back, but I don't have the tags or receipts (cardigan is still unworn. Why I took the tags off, I have no clue.)

I like the split back and buckle on those trousers but worry more about the rise than the cut.
Low rise trousers are awful in general but look worse when designers slap a pointless detail like a buckleback on it. Hope to check 'em out in person soon.

I love the fabric on that Speedway shirt.

Hey folks, just got back from NYC/Brooklyn, where my wife and I had a seriously great time at the Norton Records 25th Anniversary Festival... just around the corner from the Tenement Museum on Manhattan's Lower East Side, we happened upon a really cool little shop, Save Khaki United (254 Broome Street), which is having a relocation sale until November 30th... they've got an excellent selection of khakis, work jackets, shirts, etc, all in vintage workwear styles... I bagged a pair of raw, simple but nicely cut selvedge jeans ($25) and this awesome hunting-style jacket, which even has an action back, for just $45 - the original price tag said $200!

A Continuous Lean did a piece about Save Khaki a while back, read it here...

I also picked up a biscuit-coloured Levi's pleated front, buckleback work jacket ($35) and a deadstock Osh Kosh work jacket ($80), among a plethora of stuff...

Here's the front and back of the Levi's jacket:

And the Osh Kosh jacket, which has one chain zipper front pocket, an IDEAL main zipper and such old skool touches as curved cuffs but seems to have a 1980s-styled label - weird, eh?
